3,000 bonus miles with Avios, Virgin and 7 other airlines with Rocketmiles

I mentioned hotel booking site Rocketmiles recently when I touched on their Thanksgiving promotion.  The company has now sent me details of all of its current offers, which give you the chance to earn 3,000 bonus miles in one of seven different frequent flyer schemes.

The only rule is that you must be a new customer.  You need to book by 31st December but your stay can be for any future date.

The 3,000 bonus miles is on top of the standard earnings from your booking.

As with Kaligo.com and Pointshound, you need to be careful when you book as prices tend to jump around quite a bit.  If you can find a hotel which is priced very similar to what you would pay elsewhere, the bonus miles make it a bargain.

Remember that you will not receive points in any hotel loyalty scheme for your stay as these bookings are treated as non-qualifying.  You will also not receive a VAT receipt which may be an issue for small businesses booking a hotel inside the EU.

Here are the home pages for their current offers – click to be taken to the respective registration page:

As an example, a quick search for Leeds for a stay next Thursday threw up the Holiday Inn Express for £136 and a total of 4,000 Avios earned, including the bonus.

ihg.com was asking £129, but the extra £7 would be well worth paying for 4,000 Avios points.

The Doubletree, on the other hand, was £271 with 10,000 Avios earned.  hilton.com is asking £226 so you are effectively paying £49 for 10,000 Avios – which, to be fair, is a decent deal if you are looking at it purely from an Avios perspective.  You should also factor in the opportunity cost of the lost Hilton HHonors points, of course.

As usual, you should do your due diligence – but there are good deals to be had.

  1. OT: Whatever happened to Red Spotted Hanky? They had some good promotions once upon a time.

    • They are still a double up Clubcard partner. Their model was not sustainable – I think, instead of spending money on ads, they thought they would try promos instead.

They are now uncompetitive compared to the TOC sites unless using Clubcard vouchers.

    • I’m still working through mountain of credits gained from the great games they ran. Thankfully the credits are valid till 2020

    • Did you get an AwardWallet ‘point expiration’ email too?

I did, and I’ve just quickly converted them into vouchers (as xcalx says, they vouchers last till 2020… the points would have expired at the end of this month though!) :)

  2. trying to make a booking on rocketmiles but its says the 3000miles promo has finished?!?

  3. Joe Hopestall says:

Both rocket miles and Kaligo don’t have the option of having an infant sleeping in the room. Even in a cot.

Its very hard therefore to know which hotel I can and cant book. To book a ‘3 room’ is a lot more expensive and not necessary if the kid will sleep in a cot otherwise

    Any suggestions

    Thanks in advance
