  This is very well timed!

  For our April ex-DUB trip to Vegas PointsHound were offering an astonishing 77,000 Virgin Flying Club miles for a stay at the Four Seasons, albeit at an uncompetitive room rate.

  I’m short on Avios at the moment so I’ll look forward to a Monday for once!

  I always find Kaligo far more expensive than other hotel providers. You are paying for the Avios.

    If the price works, it is a great deal. If the price doesn’t work, it’s not. However, you cannot fault their customer service in any way. I have met the senior team twice, once in their base of Singapore and once here, and have an open line to them – if for some weird reason you had any issues I can ensure it gets fixed as a priority.

      I agree, we got nearly 60k miles for our last HKT booking, phenomenal return, and the price was competitive… But as always you must compare and contrast. SO looking forward to your special offer Rob…

      Can you please proved a single example where they have ever had a decent price?

      I have checked over 10 hotels with them, other websites like booking.com and hotels.com and directly with the hotels in question. Most of them time, Kaligo is usually 15%-30% the price of everyone else. So basically, with every Kaligo booking, you’re actually paying for the avios in question.

        I do always look at Kaligo but I’m sorry to say you are right. Just checked the hotel in Crete I’m planning to book against the Hotels.com. £500 difference for a week- same room! I don’t find the same with Rocketmiles who I have used on a competitive rate and bagged the points. I will though check the offer tomorrow, you never know!

        The value of rooms booked via these HFP promos is substantial, so I’m told, so clearly it works for many people.

        The one they are not great for, ironically, is spending your employers money due to lack of VAT receipts.

      I’ve used Kaligo a few times – booked up a few airport hotels at BOS/PHX when doing an ex DUB last summer and the rates were competitive to the hotel direct website rates (plus the additional benefit of additional avios). I’ve used them for UK travel where the rates have been cheaper than the hotel direct web rate. I’ve also compared on many other occasions and found them to me more expensive than booking with the hotel direct. Sometime prohibitively so. Other times such as during promo’s and I’m just short of hitting XXXX bonus avios the additional cost offsets the extra avios I’ll receive. Rather than knocking Kaligo as “always too expensive” there’s no harm in comparing and then making an informed decision as to how to book.
