Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Earn double Heathrow Rewards points until 31 March

Heathrow Rewards, the Heathrow Airport shopping loyalty programme, has launched a special offer until the end of March.

You will receive double points – 2 per £1 spent – on all transactions in Terminal 3 and Terminal 5 until 31st March.

Converted to Avios, that means 2 Avios points per £1 spent.

Full details can be found on ba.com here.

Heathrow Rewards

The wording is a bit odd, to be honest.  It reads:

Collect double Heathrow Rewards points when you spend at the airport during 1 February and 31 March 2016. Whether you’re treating yourself or gifting for someone else, you can look forward to boosting your Executive Club balance or redeeming for a shopping voucher on your next visit.

Receive double points on all transactions in Terminal 3 and Terminal 5 at Heathrow including Official Heathrow Parking and Heathrow Express trains.

So, what does this mean?

Does it only apply to spending in Terminal 3 and Terminal 5?  If so, why is Official Heathrow Parking and Heathrow Express included?

This promotion is being run in association with British Airways, who use Terminal 3 and Terminal 5.  That explains why those two terminals are specifically mentioned.  The email confirmation I received after registering did mention the ‘Double points in Terminal 3 and Terminal 5’ promotion.

However, if I were you, I would register even if you will only be using other terminals before the end of March.  It only takes a couple of seconds and it would be a shame to miss out in case other transactions do trigger the bonus.

Note that double points are restricted to the first 10 transactions, so if you are planning a major purchase in March you may want to hold off using your card for smaller purchases before then.

I will be in T2 on Tuesday so I will buy a magazine and see what happens.

PS.  Don’t forget that you can still receive 3,000 Avios (or Virgin, Etihad, Emirates or Lufthansa) miles by joining Heathrow Rewards and spending £100 in one day before the end of February.  Full details of this Heathrow Rewards offer are here.

If you are a premium member and already get double points will you get quadruple points?

    • Globetrotter7 says:

I’m wondering the same thing. I guess we won’t k ow until we try. Might give it a go

      • Nick says:

Looks like triple points rather than quadruple. Seems to work at the car park…

Excellent my wife is flying tomorrow and I next week; just ran out of whisky too. But registration link does not bring me to the double points registration page, just general HR offers page which does not include double points offer.

    • @mkcol says:

I found it did this too when already logged into the Heathrow Rewards site. You need to log out then follow the link above, scroll down a little on their page & register without logging in.

  • Emily says:

Slightly off topic, but it’s on the BA page of offers that you link to…. if you book a Hilton hotel through the BA site will Hilton still recognise your status? Neverunderstood this….

    • Nick says:

Slim chance I’d say. You definitely won’t get any points. Status will really depend on check in receptionist.

    • Stuart_f says:

I booked Club Europe flights and the Hilton Vienna Plaza in the recent CE sale through BA and was denied benefits because it wasn’t a direct booking. The visit shows up in my HHonors account but didn’t count for any stays or nights nor did any points post even though we ate in the restaurant and settled the bill through the room.

      • Emily says:

I thought this was the case, but that seems very harsh on the additional spend! Shame that Hilton is a BA partner yet you don’t get any benefit from booking through them.

      • Rob says:

That is how the rules work now, Hilton tightened up a lot.

        • Nick says:

Exactly why I booked CE to Venice in the recent CE sale and booked the Molino Stucky separately.

  • flyforfun says:

So, I bought HEX tickets online yesterday for travel in May and included my WorldPoints. I registered today for the Promo. What are the chances I’ll get double points?

  • roger says:

Is official Heathrow Terminal 5 Long Term parking the nearest parking to T5?
And why can’t it be booked using third party parking service providers like holidayextra etc?
Is that not a monopoloy by BAA?

    • Rob says:

You can’t force someone to sell their product through intermediaries.

      • roger says:

What I meant was why T5 is not bookable similar to T2/T3/T4 on other thid party sites?
It must be more profitable for BAA or they don’t need to compete as they probably get enough business out of T5 parking bookings.

  • Gavin says:

What is their landside to buy at T3? Collecting the OH from there Friday after work and may try and double up with the spend £100 in one day for 3000 avios offer

    • Genghis says:

Hi Gavin. It works on currency. My wife and I ordered just over £100 of Euros each for collection from Travelex.

      • Gavin says:

Excellent, I am going to be spending a lot of time in Cyprus so reckon £100 of Euros is ideal.

        • Genghis says:

The points take 40 days to post due to the Travelex buy back scheme. But at 40 days I sent customer service a scanned copy of our receipts and 3,010 HR points were added per account.

  • Danksy says:

Does anyone have an idea if this will stack with the 3000 points for new members that expires end of February? Traveling from LAX-LHR-CPH with a four hour delay in LHR with the wife and kids.. Neither of whom are members yet!

    • TimS says:

I expect it will stack… in a way.

ie I expect the base spend points will be doubled, but the 3000 bonus points won’t become 6000 bojus points.

  • JamesLHR says:

Put £70 spend on the card tonight after registering for the offer. Will be interesting to see if it posts anything extra than my normal standard of double points.
