Back in early January, I highlighted the first in a series of promotions organised by Heathrow Airport under the title ‘Smart Travellers’.  They are aimed – a little bizarrely – at getting more young people to use the airport.

British Airways initially offered £25 off a £100 flight.  It has now upped the ante and is offering £50 off a European return flight costing £120 or more.

British Airways Heathrow Smart Travellers

The only conditions are:

you must be under 25 (but the voucher applies to everyone on your booking, irrespective of age)

you must travel before 12th June

you must book a return short-haul flight in economy for £120 or more

To claim your discount, you must fill in the form on this page.  You will be emailed a personalised discount code to use on ba.com.

The booking deadline you are given seems to be a fixed number of days from the day you request your discount code – the terms and conditions do not mention any cut-off booking deadline.

    The t&cs state,

‘The discount is applicable to bookings for children and infants, when contained on the same booking as an adult.’

However, the sign up option only allows birth years up to 2010. I have a 4 year old so might need to send off an email instead.

  • Umberto says:

James, we are looking into this and will let you know. Thanks 😉

  • Sebastian says:

OT but I just got an email from Iberia stating that I can book an Avios redemption for 40% off. I don’t have specifics right now as my phone does not want to click the link, but I thought I would highlight it!

    • Idrive says:

Me too but i can not find the details ? It says to update my profile and you have to click the little arrow, as they did not link the image..it also seems to be personalised…
I updated my phone but not details..promo will start on Monday

      • Lady London says:

Looks like the 40% is only off some routes though and particular ones from Spain.

    • Lady London says:

FWIW the link doesn’t click to anything on pc either. It’s not just your phone Sebastian.

There are a few other tasty looking offers below the Avios redemption with 40% off on some routes that is at the top of the email. I haven’t checked them out yet. It’s possible they are not useful for anyone not resident in Spain.

I did see a banner saying 18.500 avios for a Parador stay but hadn’t checked the conditions and don’t have time to check it today.

  • Lady London says:

OT has anyone found HfP daily emails no longer reach them since a couple of days?

I’ve just had to re-sign up again. I definitely hadn’t unsubscribed. I just stopped receiving them.

Same thing happened a few months ago also.

  • Yan says:

Any experience on how long the code is valid for?

  • JAXBA says:

Love the retro BA logo on the home page, the one that no one under ~30 would remember!

  • Yisroel says:

Ba’s T&C’s say “A Qualifying Booking is any BA short-haul return flights leaving and returning to
Heathrow”. This seems to imply that Heathrow is the beginning and end of the journey. In reality the evoucher can be used from any UK airport as long as it goes via Heathrow. e.g. MAN – FRA via LHR

  • Andrew says:

This is a great offer (for me) – booked GLA-AMS via LHR for my anniversary saving £100, compared to when I was pricing it last night!
