Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

New Miles & More miles offer launched with The Economist magazine

As Miles & More miles are harder to collect in the UK than Avios, it’s worth taking a look at the current promotion with The Economist.  This is – I think – the most generous we have ever seen.

If you subscribe by 31st May you can earn up to 12,000 Miles & More miles depending on whether you want to read the magazine digitally, on paper or both.

There are three options:

Print Only or Digital Only for £145 each: 9,600 miles

Print and Digital for £179: 12,000 miles

You are technically paying 1.5p per mile when subscribing to either the print or the digital version – and in both cases you will obviously get the magazine on top.  This is too much money per mile if you are not at all interested in reading The Economist, but if you were to buy a subscription anyway this is a great deal.

If you are self-employed you should also be able to write off the subscription as a business expense.  This means, for a 40% taxpayer, you are well under 1p per mile which is very good.
