Not sure if would be included in a future post or not but… how late do you think it is safe to leave for applying for Le Club Accor Platinum status through Amex Platinum to maximise the status expiry (for my wife, I already have it and will expire Nov.) before this perk is removed?

  • Louie says:

Hadn’t seen the Ramada/Days Inn offer, but looks like it’s already too late for that one – “The AAdvantage Miles Winter Promotion has ended. If you registered for this promotion prior to February 8, 2016, you may book and earn bonus AAdvantage miles in accordance with the promotion terms and conditions” – despite the blurb going on to say it is valid until Feb 29.

Thanks Rob, this is always so helpful.
I hadn’t spotted the Virgin deadline before. I’m quite new to this. We’re aiming to redeem Virgin miles for a March 2017 trip to Capetown. Any thoughts on when /how to best do this ?
    Thanks,
    Chris

    • Pol says:

Virgin no longer fly to Capetown so you’ll have to redeem for J’oburg and buy a connection from there. Virgin release seats 11 months in advance so start checking for redemption seats as soon as possible as its a difficult route to redeem on, especially in premium cabins. Also Virgin have very quietly this week increased the number or miles needed for upgrades quite significantly and at very short notice and I wouldn’t be surprised if they increased the miles needed for a straight redemption soon, so the quicker you can secure seats the better.

    • Rob says:

Virgin does not fly to CPT only JNB. You could use Avios to redeem for a Comair connection. Flights open up either 331 or 355 days in advance (not sure off top of head what VS does) so this sale is no good.

      • Pol says:

Virgin release at 331. Annoying if you’re planning a holiday involving BA and Virgin redemptions.

        • C L says:

Thanks folks, I’d guessed it’d be via JHB. Diary reminder for 331 days 🙂

For the Tesco pet promo there was nowhere for me to enter my club card details, i took the policy out then called them. They advised they could see the promo code was used, and they had already matched my clubcard number from my address and that the points were allocated. Ts n Cs state only one promo code per household.

  • Rob says:

Does anybody know if Virgin run this miles discount promotion more than once a year or is this the only occasion?

    • Pol says:

Usually Jan, May and October but no guarantee they’ll repeat the pattern this year. They were rather late with this one as it appeared Feb not Jan.

  • Rob says:

Thanks. 99% sure this will roll over, albeit with more or fewer points!

  • PaulH says:

Hi – on the economist offer – can anyone advise whether it is linked to an e-mail address or the IB Plus number? I can use a new e-mail to renew, but I only have 1 IB+ account. Many thanks.

  • DonaldT says:

Interestingly (or not) I order a couple of iPads and some ink cartridges the other day, both being in the Clubcard points promotion.

The ink cartridges were cancelled by Tesco – citing lack of stock, although the website claimed that cartridges were in stock when the order was placed – and I notice today in my Clubcard account, that the bonus points for both the ink cartridges and the iPads have been reversed out by Tesco, leaving only the base spend.

As I haven’t even collected the iPads yet, I think this is a bit cheeky!
