News in brief:

Avios launches new partnership with LOVEtheatre

Avios has a new collection partner – theatre ticketing group LOVEtheatre.

In an industry full of dubious characters, LOVEtheatre stands out as a well established player at 25 years old.

You will earn 3 Avios points for every £1 you spend.

In what appears to be the new Avios standard (see also the new Direct Ferries partnership), LOVEtheatre will allow you to earn Avios in either avios.com, British Airways Executive Club, Iberia Plus or Meridiana Club.  I expect Aer Club to be added in April once the Aer Lingus scheme is rebranded.

There is an option to store your Avios number in your LOVEtheatre account so that it is added automatically to bookings.  One-off customers can add their number during the payment process.

British Airways launches in-flight hypnotherapy

Meanwhile, in the ‘couldn’t make it up’ corner for today ….

“In-flight hypnotherapy will soon be available to help travellers on British Airways flights to start their journey to improved health and wellbeing from the comfort of their seats.

Customers on long-haul flights, including the airline’s business class-only service to New York from London City, can take time out to sit back and relax while listening to a series of five, 30 minute wellbeing programmes recorded by UK hypnotherapist Mark Bowden.

The programmes on the airline’s in-flight entertainment system cover how to lose weight, stop smoking, give up alcohol, eat more fruit and vegetables and how to develop a more positive mental attitude.

Troy Warfield, director of customer experience, said: “The wellbeing of our customers is very important and we’re thrilled to be able to offer the UK’s first hypnotherapy sessions in the air.

“This latest initiative emphasises our commitment to providing our customers with airline firsts and a huge breadth of content on our High Life in-flight entertainment channel.”

Mark Bowden added: “It’s very exciting for an airline like British Airways to offer the benefits of hypnotherapy to their customers. Using my programmes they’ll be able to tune in and switch off in a way that enables them to both relax and focus at the same time.

“It’s a very effective way of changing human behaviour for the better so they can start making those life changes they’d like to make to improve their wellbeing. And listening to the audio regularly is like training a muscle – the more you do it, the more impact it has.”

  • Johnnycl says:

There’s also a 500 Avios bonus on your first Lovetheatre booking advertised on the Avios website.

    • Rob says:

Didn’t see that, will do another article!

      • Zoe says:

Minimum £50 spend for the extra 500 points

        • Rob says:

You don’t get far in the West End for £50 though!

Hope the weather has improved back in the UK, it is another glorious day on the beach here in Ras:

          https://twitter.com/headforpoints/status/704986199346257921

Just thought you’d like to know 🙂

          • Kathy says:

Depends what you’re seeing! Lovetheatre have some pretty good offers. Generally in the West End it’s only the stuff with really famous people in it that sells out and is really expensive – for most other stuff you can get a perfectly decent seat for around £40.

Not that I use them very much – I tend to book cheaper seats directly from the theatre. I’d have to book a few tickets to get over £50.

    • Mark C says:

Bugger! Just spent £180 on 2 tickets in the stalls for the Lion King next Friday!

  • Johnnycl says:

OT – two new Amex offers appeared this morning. Spend £250 at Hilton get £50 credit and spend £250 at Accor hotels get £30 credit.

    • Louise says:

£50 off when spend £150 at Hilton for my Gold for me. Nothing on my BA or SPG
      No sign of Accor either

      • Johnnycl says:

I wish I had that one, I tend to have only one night stays so won’t spend £250 in one go.

    • Brian says:

Lucky you! I’ve got neither on 4 different cards – and I could use both!

      • Alan says:

Zilch on 4 cards here too – getting increasingly fed up of Amex only making these offers on some cards. Hopefully they go onto Cardmemberoffers soon…

    • Robman says:

Are these available for any Amex card holder or only Amex Gold and/or Amex Platinum? I have BA Amex card but do not see any offers.

    • RIccati says:

      Thank you.

  • Kathryn says:

I’m quite pleased about these new hypnotherapy programmes, because of the noise on board I normally get myself to sleep with one of the spoken word shows. Hypnotherapy audio is even better at sending you to sleep, not sure if it’ll do any good at helping me lose weight etc tho!

  • Paul says:

Is the hypnotherapy to help you forget how uncomfortable you are? How bad the food is? Or just to forget your on a BA flight?

    • Derek says:

You beat me to it paul. Off to Tampa on Monday and wonder if hypnotherapy will make me forget my time in the No. 1 lounge……..

      • harry says:

they’re said to be opening temporary new capacity in the old Delta lounge to improve things

    • ankomonkey says:

      Like that, Paul!

    • Chris says:

The hypnotherapy is there to encourage you to drink less of the free booze onboard.

I presume the ROI of investing in the hypnotherapy service is realised by lower spend on champagne 🙂

      • AndyHo says:

you’re gonna realise on the count of three that you are all farm animals….

  • The_Real_A says:

    Is this AMEX?

    • harry says:

activate on your Amex card, not all will have been sent offer

  • Brian says:

    That’s just a list of hotels, I’m afraid…

  • SimonB says:

Rob – is than an air of dismissiveness of hypnotherapy? It’s not hocus pocus when done in a clinical rather than a stage setting. It has been used in the medical profession for many years and is approved by NICE as a treatment for IBS amongst other things.
Listening to recordings is somewhat the poor relation compared to 1-2-1 but can still be highly effective for relaxing and de-stressing.

    • Rob says:

Not dismissive at all, when done properly – which this clearly isn’t!

      • Leo says:

Well…you say that but listening to a hypno CD (few years back obviously) got me back in a plane after I developed a fear of flying out of the blue (no pun intended).
