Double Avios on flights to New York until 30 July

British Airways has launched a new promotion to encourage you to fly with them to New York.

You will earn double base Avios points on flights in ANY class – no restrictions, even discounted economy – until 30th July 2016.

The only snag is that you must book before 6th April and you MUST register via this webpage.

Only BA marketed and operated flights count so don’t book an AA codeshare.  The valid routes are Gatwick to JFK, Heathrow to JFK, London City to JFK and Heathrow to Newark.

You are allowed to earn the bonus twice during the promotional period.

You MUST register in advance, which can be done here on ba.com.

Wonder if this works as part of an ex-EU?

    • Yan says:

      Terms and Conditions
      6) The Qualifying Flights for both the outbound and return parts of the journey must be booked, ticketed and purchased in the UK or Republic of Ireland, and must depart from and terminate upon return within the UK or Republic of Ireland, and all travel must be completed within the Travel Period.

      • Alan says:

Although one reading of that would be the qualifying flights are LON-NYC-LON only and have to be UK ticketed, but it doesn’t preclude having other sectors before and after the qualifying flights…

        • Adrian says:

I am also wondering that. Just registered for the promo and booked a flight starting in Dublin and flying, via LHR, to JFK. According to the rules this should qualify. However my return leg is JFK, via LHR, to BSL, which looks like it will not qualify.

In Manage My Booking the Avios are only showing as the standard amount, and there are no double points added. So it looks like I will have to wait until after my flights to see if any bonus points are awarded.

          • Alan says:

I wouldn’t base anything on MMB – it can quite often be wrong and I’d be very surprised if they changed the coding to include this promo. I think it’s just a case of registering and seeing what happens – that’s what I’m doing anyway! 😀
