If you had ever wanted to use your Avios points to visit Cape Town, Christmas came early back in March when British Airways launched its new route from Gatwick.

Two Club World seats were available on every flight on launch day, and many HfP readers were able to snap them up.

Yesterday, BA added 11 new Cape Town flights from Heathrow.  These will run on selected days in the first week of January and throughout February.  The flight numbers will be BA44 / BA45 and the service will run with Boeing 747.

If you fancied a February Cape Town trip it is worth having a look at ba.com to see if the ‘day 1’ Avios space has yet to be snapped up.

British Airways has also added additional services to Krakow and Reykjavik starting on 31st October.  This comprises:

Additional 4 per week flights to Reykjavik on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays

Additional 4 per week flights to Krakow on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays

These may be worth locking in for a weekend break towards the end of the year.

Here’s a little fact- BA044 & BA045 were flight numbers used for the route to Dhaka, bangladesh from heathrow which used to use a 747!

Krakow is a gem, much better than Warsaw. We were once treated like royalty in Warsaw by our business partners, taken out for dinner in the city’s finest restaurant. Pièce de résistance was carp – which tasted, as you might imagine – of mud with too many bones in. Resist temptation and leave it for the Poles.

    • Frenske says:

I thought Carp was only for Christmas. Needless to say my Polish wife is reluctant to go to Poland with Christmas. Strange that chauvinistic traditions alter the taste buds. It taste like mud but hey ho it is Polish.

      • John says:

I had carp in Ealing for Christmas. No need to go to Poland. (My neighbours and London friends are mostly Polish)

  • Mark E says:

Prince only died two weeks ago and people are already getting his song titles wrong
