  The room upgrade vouchers, alone, could be worth the cost of the app, and Jumeirah had some extremely competitive pricing, for October half term, back in Feb/ March. 😉
  Pricing for October, currently, is just silly!

          They run to 90+ per cent occupancy then in my experience so no problem shifting the rooms – although Jumeirah does have a reputation for dumping rooms via travel agents to avoid public discounting.

          The upside of that price is that the quality of female guest is very high 😉 although the same cannot always be said for their male companions ……

          Hi Raffles,

          Of the Madinat hotels which one in your experience is ‘best’ for kids (we have a 4 year old)? We stayed at The Atlantis last Autumn but this year we want to try out Madinat.

          Mina – nearest to the construction work on the 4th hotel (although that is in fit-out stage now) and ever so slightly away from the main action, usually cheapest

          Al Qasr – theoretically a bit posher (but I doubt you’d notice), most central (not that it matters much)

          DAM Sea – you have a room in a villa directly on the beach

          DAM non-sea – you have a room in a villa in the grounds BUT it will come with a private (well, shared between 2 villas) swimming pool.

          We usually go for the latter because we like the private pools, which have their own lifeguard. They are empty 75% of the day. If you want to use the main pool you can call a buggy – main pool is fantastic but is always busy (although I have NEVER in probably 100 nights failed to get sunloungers at any time of the day). Downside of these rooms is the need to take a buggy or boat everywhere but frankly my kids wouldn’t have it any other way. My 5-year old LOVES sitting in the buggies and being driven around and would be gutted if we took a room on the beach and he never had to go in one!

          If paying cash get a package with breakfast or you’re looking at £100 per day – and it is an OUTSTANDING breakfast they do. Amex Platinum has 443 packages which come with breakfast, details on the Amex Plat cardholders site.

  Need to book our Dubai hotel for three nights first week of October. Does anyone have any recommendation on location? We will be coming back from Maldives so will probably shop rather than hang out on a beach. Husband has Diamond Hilton or we have around 50,000 SPG points?

    Stayed at the Conrad earlier this year, they treated us very nice as a diamond, including upgrading us into an absolutely massive suite (you know when a suite has 2 bathrooms that it is too big!)

    Maybe check the rates there? It’s very close to the Dubai mall, and the metro station that will take you there is right outside the doors.

    Doubletree Hilton Jumeriah Beach is a nice hotel. Large 2 bedroom apartments.

  Need to book our 10 days holiday in December. This might actually reduce the cost but i have a slught dilenma. Do I wait till mid September to sign off so the other offers with a 3 month expiry don’t go to waste but the room rates might go up or do I forfeit the deals and book the rooms now?

  If you constructed a trip around this it could work out well. Etihad redemption to AUHon a day flight with a night in Jumeirah at Etihad Towers. Relocate to J Beach the next day with your second free night, big free buffet lunch then snack in the club at dinner time with your free passes. A couple more nights at discount using free lunches and dinners around Dubai as well as a lively night at 360 drinking your bottle of spirits!

  As usual this could use more detail. Presumably all the free meals don’t come with drinks, your free spirits presumably require you to buy mixers (unless you’re making your own dry Martini!), how does availability work for the free nights etc….? I downloaded the app and it doesn’t give any answers to these questions. Worth keeping an eye on though.

  Someone else looking for advice….. we’ve had to rebook our Etihad first class flights home to Oz and lack of availability means two nights in Abu Dhabi in early September. I don’t have any desire to go to Dubai; also it’s been a difficult and stressful few months so we’ll probably just chill and maybe have some spa treatments. Any recommendations for reasonably priced hotels?

    Abu Dhabi is cheaper than Dubai. For beach, Saadiyat Island has a few decent place I believe. I reviewed the Jumeirah in the city which I liked. I also reviewed the InterCon which has a big beach club, and is downtown, but is getting worn and overrun with package tourists.

    Dubai is only a modest and cheap ride (airport is on the Dubai side of Abu Dhabi) so don’t reject it. Why not get a Hilton credit card each and book the Waldorf on the Palm for 2 free nights if you are there over a Middle East weekend?

      We get free chauffeur to/from our hotel with Etihad so that’s not an issue but it seems the Waldorf does not have standard rooms available on points on 2 or 3 September, otherwise I could have used points and cash and my new HHonors Platinum status courtesy of the recent status match offer (as we both have Barclaycard from 20+ years ago that I’ve not got round to cancelling, it seems we wouldn’t get the credit cards). Shame.

  Isme is a very good deal if you’re a frequent visitor to Dubai, and the free room can be booked at peak times without an issue from what I recall and considering the price of Jumeriah hotels even off peak, you can make the £1k back easily.
