UPDATE – APRIL 2024:  This article is now out of date, but don’t worry.  We produce a monthly summary of the top hotel bonus point offers – please click HERE or use the ‘Hotel Offers’ menu above.

Click here for our article on Hilton’s ‘Points Plus’ promotion which runs from 1st January to 1st May 2024. You can register for the offer by clicking here.

Keep up to date with new hotel offers by signing up for our free daily or weekly newsletters.

Registration is now open for the new Hilton HHonors September to December promotion.  It is called ‘Double Up‘ and I briefly mentioned last week.

Like the Hilton Summer promotion – which got me 60,000 bonus points on my stay at Hilton Sa Torre in Mallorca – it wins the 2016 award for simplest hotel promotion:  you will receive double base points on every stay.  No hotels excluded, no cap, no minimum stay requirements.

The only ‘tweak’ is that some members seem to be receiving an additional offer when they register.  I didn’t.

Hilton Diamond 350

You need to register to take part and this can be done via the Hilton website here.

One thing that is worth noting is that there is NOT a ‘double miles’ option as we have seen in the past.  This may turn up in a few weeks.  At the moment, if you take airline miles from your Hilton stays, you will only be earning them at the standard rate.

For once, no hotels are excluded.

It is valid for stays from 1st September to 31st December.

You still receive double base points if you choose ‘points and miles’ (usually 10 base points per $1 plus 1 airline mile per $1) instead of ‘points and points’ (usually 10 base points per $1 plus 5 bonus base points per $1).

You can register for ‘Double Up’ here No registration = no bonus.

I would recommend registering now in case you forget later given that the offer runs until the end of December.

  • Genghis says:

“Most people will be better off taking ‘points and points’. Once doubled, you are trading off 10 additional Hilton points per $1, which I value at 3p, against 1 airline mile, which I value at 0.75p to 1p.”

Aren’t only base points doubled per Ts and Cs? In which case the difference between ‘points and points’ and ‘points and miles’ is 5 Hilton points (1.5p) vs 1 mile (0.75-1p). Still better off though with ‘points and points’ though

    • Alan says:

The base points are doubled, but the base points are 10 per USD!

Per USD (obviously worse exchange rate now) you get :
      10 base
      10 double points promo
      5 points+points my way pref
5 Diamond (if you have it!)
      1,000 per stay Diamond (ditto)

You’ll still get double base points under the promo even if you’re on points+miles.

      • Genghis says:

Yes but under points and miles it’d be per $ spend:
        10 base
        10 double points promo
        1 mile
5 Diamond (if you have it!)
        1,000 per stay Diamond (ditto)
        Hence my comment stands, no?

        • Alan says:

Apologies I get what you mean now, the way I read your comment initially was that you were only getting 5 extra points under the promo.

I agree that the promo doesn’t do anything to change what your choice is regarding p+p vs p+M – it’s either 5 HHonors or 1 Mile, you get the 10 base points + 10 promo base points regardless.

          • Alan says:

It’s showing as 10% on my Nationwide My Offers list, only on one stay though.

        • Rob says:

          Yes, my error, will fix

  • AA says:

Does the offer include stays already booked for this period or for new bookings only after registering?

  • James A says:

You don’t find CC (club Carlson) expensive as a rule? I gave up on the scheme because I couldn’t justify the extra outlay compared to Accor/Hilton.

    • Andrew (@andrewseftel) says:

The weekend 241 and 442 offers are excellent value in my experience.

  • Janet Thomas says:

Does anyone know if you earn HH points on a stay using Tesco vouchers?

  • Lee says:

OT but i was wondering if someone may be able to help me

I have recently got an Amex Platinum card and am not quite sure about the car hire insurance. Does anyone have direct experience of using it on Avis in Canada where the car hire has been booked through BA (either as standalone rental or as part of a BA holiday package)? Currently i can see that the car hire section in the platinum card insurance document has a paragraph that reads as follows

“Where mandatory rental insurance must be purchased from or via the rental company in respect of any vehicle hire, the rental company’s insurance cover shall apply. The Car Rental Benefits provided with Your Card shall apply where rental insurance is not offered by the rental company or You are able to decline optional rental insurance offered.”

This reads to me as if you have any cover at all with the car hire company that applies and not the platinum insurance cover. However as far as i can see CDW is always included on any booking i try and make on BA.com and not able to be removed. Will the Platinum card insurance would still cover any excess under the mandatory/base insurance as no additional cover other than the basic cover (which seems to always be included) has been bought?

    • Rob says:

Some countries have legal cover minimums which cannot be removed. You do not need to add extra though.

Using US booking sites, eg hertz.com not hertz.com/uk can give lower rates as US custom is to do only stripped out pricing.

  • Jon says:

    Slightly O/T:
I have a Santander 123 offer that gives me 10% off all Hilton stays if I pay by card before next week. Will I be able to pay using the Santander card, but still get all the points if I put my Hilton honours number somewhere before checkout? I’m a silver member currently. Thank you.

    • Jon says:

Thanks Genghis. I was going to use this offer for a stay in New York in December.

  • Andrew says:

Hi – anyone able to advise on any Waldorf Astoria bonuses that are on-going at present??? I know previously there have been some HHonours WA bonuses to sign up for …. ???

  • Alan says:

Annoying if they only notify you by email given I almost never receive Hilton emails (apart from booking confirmations)
