This week we are running a great competition on Head for Points in association with Melia Hotels International.

One lucky reader will win a 2-night weekend stay at the 5-star ME London hotel on the Aldwych.

A bit about ME London

ME London was designed by Sir Norman Foster and officially opened in 2013. It sits on Aldwych next to the site of the old BBC World Service building, literally two minutes from Covent Garden.

I recently had a tour of ME London and the hotel is very stylish. Whoever wins is going to be impressed. The design is modern and luxurious, playing with a black and white scheme. The tranquil corridors are creating a contrast to the rooms which are light and airy with all of the facilities you would expect from a new lifestyle-driven hotel – Nespresso machine, eclectic mini-bar and the latest electronic mood lighting.

There are two restaurants and two bars at ME London. The Marconi Lounge on the ground floor offers freshly brewed coffee, aromatic teas, fresh pastries as well as champagne and cocktails. The award-winning Radio Rooftop Bar offers panoramic views of London’s Skyline serving signature cocktails and Spanish tapas. Your prize includes free drinks here. Lastly, STK London is a celebrity-favoured steakhouse serving prime beef cuts and more with live DJ sessions on Thurs-Sat. Full English Breakfast is exclusively served at Cucina restaurant.

Earlier this year I stayed at the sister hotel ME Milan II Duca and you can read my review here. I was impressed by the quality of the rooms, the food and the service.

Located minutes from Covent Garden, Trafalgar Square, Houses of Parliament and St. Paul’s cathedral, ME London is in the ideal location for a 2-day London adventure for whoever wins our competition.

If you choose to book a room at ME London for cash, remember that the hotel is part of Melia Rewards.  You can earn Avios from stays at ME London or other Melia Hotels International properties. Your Melia Rewards points will convert into Iberia Plus Avios and you can move them across to BA using ‘Combine My Avios’.

Melia Rewards members also get a better price when staying at a Melia property. For example, two nights at ME London in a MODE room for two people in September is £710 for Melia Rewards members but £824 for non members.

Holders of American Express Platinum cards now receive automatic Gold status in Melia Rewards which will bring you extra points and benefits on stays at ME London. You can also use your Gold ‘20% discount vouchers here.

What can you win?

We are giving away a 2-night weekend stay for two people in a MODE room at ME London.

In addition the winner will get breakfast and 2 cocktails per person at the Radio rooftop bar.

  • Gabriel says:

I’ve tried to open a Melia Rewards account via the Amex route, but 3 weeks later still no sign from them. Do you know how long does this process normally take?

    • Relaxo says:

I think it took about 6 weeks to get my card in the mail. I’ve been waiting 6 months for the radisson status on the other hand.

    • James Alexander says:

How did you request this ? I cannot see a link on Amex Plat page
      Thanks
      James

  • Tracy says:

Managed to enter and then tweeted to get the second entry. Tweet sent but the competition entry page didn’t register the second entry. On a mobile accessed through Facebook if that makes a difference.

    • Rob says:

Sorry about that. The Gleam software is not perfect but generally copes ok.

  • Jenny Shearman says:

    Brilliant competition, thanks

  • David Gilmore says:

Good article and great competition which I naturally entered. I recently upgraded my Melia status to gold via the American Express Platinum route. Last week, I booked a stay at the Melia Kuala Lumpur hotel and I can confirm that the Melia gold status gave me a 20% discount on the room rate. I also had a small credit to spend in the hotel on food and drink.

    • Neil says:

I will be visiting Kuala Lumpur for the first time, in January. Would you recommend the location of the Melia for first time tourist there? Hotel looks v nice.

  • Leo says:

Hmmmm. Not sure about this hotel. The restaurant Cucina is ok. The Radio Bar is full of braying suits and their molls on a Friday and the Marconi Lounge could give TOWIE a run for its money on a Saturday night. Still this might be exactly what the doctor ordered for a weekend. I think I’m getting a bit passed it.

    • Rob says:

The rooftop bar is only hotel guests and guest list Thu-Sat, I was told.

    • JK says:

I agree about Radio bar, not nice at all. I went in with wife on a Friday evening and while the location is good, the atmosphere and clientele rather unpleasant. Most people were loud and very drunk, and there were places where people had vomited and the mess not cleaned away. We didn’t even bother to stay for a drink.

  • Astej Sahi says:

    Fingers Crossed!

  • Florence van Olffen-Hamers says:

    Worth the try…

  • Laurent says:

    For sure, fingers crossed!
