Hilton / Amex ‘£50 cashback on £250 booking’ offer is back, covering UK and European hotels

American Express and Hilton Hotels have brought back their generous ‘£50 cashback for spending £250’ promotion.

It is restricted to the first 10,000 American Express cardholders to register their card.  To see if you are targetted, you need to log in to the Amex website and click on the ‘Offers’ tab on the online statement for ALL of your cards.

I got it on my Platinum card but not my BA Premium Plus card or, perhaps unsurprisingly, my SPG card.

This offer will NOT work with any MBNA, Lloyds or Barclays-issued Amex.  However, keep an eye on the Amex Connect offers site – if it appears there you can take part.  The Amex Connect site appears to be dying off, to be honest, as Amex prepares to pull the plug on its licensed cards business.

The Hilton cashback rules are relatively simple:

You must register your card number in advance (there is a cap of 10,000 registrations)

Valid for stays until 30th November

Minimum spend of £250 in one transaction

Valid only at UK and European hotels. It includes all brands – Hilton, Hampton, Doubletree, Conrad and Waldorf-Astoria.  European countries taking part are Finland, France, Germany, Netherlands, Spain and Sweden.

This would work perfectly well in conjunction with the current Hilton ‘double points’ promotion which I wrote about here.

PS.  The relatively new Hilton Paris Opera, pictured above, is included in the offer and will be reviewed on Head for Points later this month.

The rules might be simple but an expiry date of 31st November suggests otherwise. DO you mean 1st December?

  • Betfairfan says:

    Brilliant cheers

  • Craig says:

The T&Cs state: Only one £50 statement credit per UK card on £250+ spend when booking, paying and staying at participating European Hilton Hotels by 30/11/16.

Does anyone know if this will work for pre-paying a stay for next year?

    • Nick says:

In my experience no. Must be on a stay before 31st November or 1st December!

      • Yuff says:

If your card is billed before 30th November you will get the credit, even if you stay after the November 30th.

        • Raffles says:

The problem is that the hotel might decide to be ‘helpful’ and not charge your card until nearer the stay date …..

          • Peter K says:

I once rang them to bill it in advance and the lady at reception was happy to do it.

    • Alan says:

It all depends on the hotel and when they charge your card – some do it immediately upon booking, some a week or two later, others immediately prior to the stay and some not until checkout (even on prepaid stays)! Sometimes you can contact the property and ask them to push through the charge if they haven’t done so already.

I am leaving tomorrow morning to stay in an expensive Hilton hotel. Unsurprisingly it is not on the list which seem to be mostly in this country..

  • Kipto says:

There are only 30 days in november

    • Raffles says:

Can you be absolutely certain of that until 1st December? I’m not sure I would be sticking my neck out and making such rash assumptions 🙂

    • Peter K says:

This year there were 29 days in Feb…

Presumably this is limited to IK issued AMEXes? I have a German one!

How annoying!!! Currently on a 2 week break at Hilton Barbados. This would have been great between our 4 cards. But Europe only and it appears only for the actual booking too. It’s the food and drink bill I was hopeful for!!
