Another benefit for Marriott members joining Starwood – dining discounts

If you are a Marriott Rewards members who has just signed up with Starwood Preferred Guest in order to benefit from status matching and points transfer, you may not know about this deal.
Starwood runs a range of dining discounts for its members under the title of ‘SPG Cravings’.
These are valid globally, but I have just focused on the London ones here. You can navigate through the website to look at other areas. The key here is that you don’t need to be a hotel guest to take advantage of these discounts – and you will earn SPG points (convertible to Marriott Rewards) for your meal at the same time.
The general discount is 10% off your food bill although the stunning Palm Court (image above) at the refurbished Sheraton Grand Park Lane offers 15%. You will also earn SPG points at your standard rate.
Note that Spice Market at the W Leicester Square recently closed.
Anyone can benefit from these savings if they are planning to eat at any of these restaurants. Starwood Preferred Guest is free to join at spg.com although you will need to print off a membership card or download the app as they do not send one until you have completed one hotel stay. American Express Platinum members get an automatic status boost to Gold level.
How to earn Marriott Bonvoy points and status from UK credit cards (April 2024)
There are various ways of earning Marriott Bonvoy points from UK credit cards. Many cards also have generous sign-up bonuses.
The official Marriott Bonvoy American Express card comes with 20,000 points for signing up, 2 points for every £1 you spend and 15 elite night credits per year.
