Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

SAVE THE DATE: HfP Christmas party, Tuesday 6th December

I’m delighted to announce that, after four years of pestering from readers about organising a get-together, we will be holding the first Head for Points reader Christmas party on Tuesday 6th December.

We will be taking over the Dry Martini bar at the Melia White House hotel.  The White House hotel is an attractive 1930’s building situated just a few minutes walk from Warren Street, Regents Park and Great Portland Street tube stations.

This will be a great opportunity for you to have a few pre-Christmas drinks and, more importantly, to meet fellow readers and to share your travel hints and tips.

Melia Hotels International is generously sponsoring the party and underwriting a large percentage of the drinks bill.

There will also be a prize draw on the night.  One guest will win a very attractive prize from Melia – more details coming soon – and there will be a number of runner up prizes too.  (Please get in touch if your company would like to donate a prize.)

Because we need to ensure that people who ask for tickets turn up, we are charging £15 for tickets.  However, your £15 ticket covers unlimited house wine and beer between 6pm and 8pm.  Soft drinks will also be available.  We are not making a penny from this and indeed Melia Hotels International is footing the bulk of the cost.  After 8pm, the bar will remain open for cash payments for anyone who wants to stay longer.

Tickets will go on sale at 9am on Friday morning – we will publish full details in another article.  We honestly have no idea how popular the event will be but I hope that as many of you as possible can come along to meet Anika and myself and to talk miles, points, credit cards and travel with other readers.  You might even win a prize.

Appreciate the effort but getting up from Devon would not be viable. I hope its a success anyway.

  • Geoggy says:

I’ll be there if I can get a ticket. Assume you’re using ticketmaster and over inflated priced tickets will be on getmein.com by 9.10am? ;o)

    • Genghis says:

Harry will have bought up all the tickets on his Amex and will be selling them on TM…

Have a nice evening, sadly not practical to get to for just the evening from Scotland!

I’ll definitely be in. have been following this site almost since 2012, and have been on three F holidays, all thanks to your tips Rob! Look forward to meeting you and Anika.

Great idea and shame i cant make it down from Scotland on a school night to attend, would have been good to put some faces to the names. I always wonder how many other HfP readers are in the BA lounge when i am there, perhaps we should have a HfP luggage tag!

  • Boi says:

It’s a Tuesday night!!! Would have been nice to attend….I also keep wondering how many hfp are up in Leeds….particularly when I am in a quee and I see an occasional person with a reward card I am tempted to ask if they read hfp

    • Jon says:

      Harrogate here mate.

      • Boi says:

And I was in Harrogate yesterday…..maybe we should have a get together for the north?

    • Save East Coast Rewards says:

Good idea to ask, if I get into a discussion about loyalty cards I always mention HfP, it’s the easiest way for people to maximise the benefit they gain out of points and most people appreciate the mention.

  • Ian says:

I’d love to come but will be in Barcelona then. Shame it’s such short notice. I might take a look a flights, see if its possible to pop over and get a late flight back to BCN.

How about a Spring get together around April as well? I’m sure lots of people would love to attend something like this.

    • Trevor says:

I wouldn’t suggest April – many people away then during Easter/school holidays. Xmas season also a busy time – need a random Fri or Sat at a random time of year for greater audience.
