Bits: important Accor promo update, Accor / Iberia transfer rate changed?

Important Accor promotion update

Yesterday I wrote about the new Accor promotion.  This offers you potentially 6,000 Avios or €120 of hotel credit for making 3 x 2-night stays.

What I did not point out clearly, although it is stated on the website when you come to register, is that bookings and registration are only available from Monday 23rd January.

As you can register now they may not hold you to this but, unless you have to make a booking before Monday, I would hold off for a few days just in case.

Meanwhile, there is a second question ……

Has Accor changed the conversion rate to Iberia Avios?

For years, Accor has offered a more generous conversion rate when sending Avios to Iberia Plus rather than British Airways.

I made a transfer in December of 3,000 points.  I received 3,000 Iberia Plus Avios at 1:1.  A similar transfer to British Airways would only have got me 1,500 Avios at 2:1.

(In reality, I wouldn’t even have been allowed to move 3,000 points to BA as the minimum transfer to them is 4,000 Accor points.)

The Accor website is now being contradictory.

This is the Iberia Plus partner page on the Accor website.

If you scroll down it now says:

“CONVERT YOUR LE CLUB ACCORHOTELS POINTS INTO AVIOS

Convert your Le Club AccorHotels points and buy a bonus ticket for your next vacation.

Minimum conversion: 4,000 Le Club AccorHotels points = 2,000 Avios”

However, is this a ‘cut and paste’ error from the BA section?

Click on the link on the same page for ‘Terms & Conditions for our airline partners’ and it still says this:

The minimum transferable amount for each of these airlines, the minimum level is 4,000 Rewards points per conversion, based on the following conversion rate:

4,000 Rewards points = 2,000 miles, kilometres or air points;

There are 8 exceptions:

• For Finnair Plus (Finnair), the conversion rate is 2,000 Rewards points = 2,000 Finnair Plus points.
• For Iberia Plus (Iberia), the conversion rate is 3,000 Rewards points = 3,000 Avios points.
• For Qantas Frequent Flyer (Qantas Airways), the conversion rate is 4,000 Rewards points = 4,000 Qantas points.
• For Velocity Frequent Flyer (Virgin Australia), the conversion rate is 4,000 Rewards points = 4,000 Velocity points.
• For PhoenixMiles (Air China), the conversion rate is 4,000 Rewards points Rewards = 3 200 miles.
• For Flying Blue (Air France KLM), the conversion rate is 2,000 Rewards points = 1,000 miles, with a maximum of 60,000 Rewards points converted per year and per carrier. The minimum number of points convertible is is 2,000 Rewards points.
• For Skymiles (Delta Airlines), the maximum number of Rewards points convertible per year and per Le Club AccorHotels member is 250,000 Rewards points.

If anyone has transferred Accor points into Iberia Plus since 1st January, please let us know what you received.
