Get £50 off £100 Radisson / Park Inn / Park Plaza hotel spend as a BA Amex cardholder

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

American Express has launched a generous Club Carlson (Quorvus Collection, Radisson Blu, Park Inn, Park Plaza) promotion.

You will receive £50 cashback on a £100 spend at a participating hotel before 31st March 2017.

It appears to be aimed at BA Amex cardholders, who should find the deal under the ‘Offers’ section of their online statement.  It may be available to other cardholders and may not be available to all BA Amex cardholders – I am working off a small sample set.

Only 5,000 registrations will be accepted so you should register immediately if you are interested.  Head for Points is more than capable of generating 5,000 registrations on its own, albeit this offer won’t appeal to everyone.

Unfortunately, Amex has messed up the offer.  I’m sure it will be fixed quickly once they read this (!) but for now it is a mess:

The ‘Offers’ page says you get £50 cashback on a £100 spend “at checkout”.  This implies that pre-paid rates do not qualify, but the terms and conditions don’t mention this.

The list of participating hotels is apparently at amexoffers.co.uk/clubcarlson but that link is broken.  It appears that non-UK hotels are included as the rules discuss currency conversion.

It says that bookings must be made at the Club Carlson site or via telephone but this seems unlikely due to the way that these offers are triggered.  It makes no sense that you can’t book via the Radisson site, the Park Inn site or the Park Plaza site.  Even bookings via third party sites such as Expedia may well qualify if you have £100 of incidentals to pay on departure.

Assuming that advance purchase rates do count (and we’re not sure of this), you could tie this offer in with the decent sale currently running at all Club Carlson chains.

It will also work alongside the generous Club Carlson promotion currently running.  This offer 5,000 bonus points per night, which I would value at £15 – £20.

If you have American Express Platinum, remember that you can claim free Gold status in Club Carlson which, if nothing else, will get you additional status bonus points for your stay.

As the offer runs until 31st March, and your plans may not be firm until then, you may want to register just in case.

PS.  The photo above is the funky aquarium in the lobby of the Radisson Blu Berlin.  I’ve no idea if this hotel is included in the offer as the link to participating hotels is broken …..

PPS.  Club Carlson has scrapped its generous 2-4-1 and 4-4-2 deals for elites …. more tomorrow

How to earn Radisson Rewards points and status from UK credit cards

How to earn Radisson Rewards points and status from UK credit cards (April 2024)

Radisson Rewards does not have a dedicated UK credit card. However, you can earn Radisson Rewards points by converting Membership Rewards points earned from selected UK American Express cards.

These cards earn Membership Rewards points:

Membership Rewards points convert at 1:3 into Radisson Rewards points which is a very attractive rate.  The cards above all earn 1 Membership Rewards point per £1 spent on your card, which converts to 3 Radisson Rewards points.

Even better, holders of The Platinum Card receive free Radisson Rewards Premium status for as long as they hold the card.  It also comes with Hilton Honors Gold, Marriott Bonvoy Gold and MeliaRewards Gold status.  We reviewed American Express Platinum in detail here.
