  OT – would appreciate it if anyone knows the answer: I wanted to book a flight through amex travel because they’ve given good service in the past. Their search doesn’t offer the cheapest itinerary offered on the QR website with a 15 hr layover (amex only offers more expensive options with shorter connections). I can bring up the same flights and price on amex travel if I add the flights separately as a multi city itinerary. If I do this, would our bags still be checked through between the connecting flights? Or would the fact I’d put them into the itinerary as separate legs with a 15hr gap mean we’d have to collect them in Doha??

    Qatar recently relaxed their rules RE seperate tickets and *should* check them through especially as it’s their own flights. Havent had any experience of this myself though

      But if you book it as a single multi-city booking then it is all on one PNR anyway and would be a protected connection.

  Has anyone got the 250 Avios for pre-registering with Aer Club?

  I phoned up to chase them up a while back and have heard nothing since. Just wondering if it’s worth bothering again.

      Capped at 5k Rob for £12.50 points return, ends tomorrow. It validated in my ebay account but no mention of it in my nectar account or by email so I’m uncertain whether I qualify or not.

  Some of your remember my post yesterday about closing BA Amex account.
  I can confirm Amex has posted googwill gesture in my PRGC account.
  so instead of Avios I got MR points, so good result there.

  O/T I am going to Orlando this summer and want to buy tickets for Universal studios, I’m looking at the 3 park explorer tickets about £220 each and I need 5 of them. Its a spend over 1k and I want to maximize either discounts or miles….any suggestions on where to buy them? I’ll be putting the purchase on my BAPP unless the spend is in $ then I’ll put it on my Lloyds Avios. Thanks

    I did exactly this last year. You may struggle to find someone who will accept Amex but we used https://www.orlandoattractiontickets.co.uk. They let you pay using PayPal so you can get it on Amex by linking your card.

    It’s a bit riskier as you lose and payment protection but it does work. We’ve used them twice without a problem

    Whatever you do make sure you get actual tickets rather than a voucher – with a voucher you have to queue up to redeem it which is painful.

      The DIBB covers Universal as well so yes. If you haven’t got all your accommodation sorted then consider staying a night or two in one of the hotels that give you front of line passes.

        Thankfully got all our hotels for 2 weeks on Hilton points 🙂
        Did think about Hard Rock hotel for a night to get 2 days fast passes though……..

    If you have AA membership you have AAA membership and so can sometimes get very useful offers, Disney included, through them. However, it’s now over seven years since I was last in the States so I have no recent knowledge on the subject. Liz might know as she has done a lot of road trips there recently and may have used AAA services.

    Hi.

    May be no help whatsoever but having overspent in florida with universal parks still to go (had tickets already), I couldn’t face all the queuing again with my family of five. Being cash poor but avios rich, I booked one night through ba site at royal loews Pacific for a room for 5 (70k avios). This qualifies you upon check in for two days worth of universal express pass (as long as you already have park tickets) and you get in an hour earlier to the Harry Potter nonsense (buying express passes on the day would have been 159 usd each) . You can pre check in from 6 am on the first day. Result – jumped most queues very quickly, less moaning from kids, did the wizard stuff early doors. Admittedly not the best use of avios on a strictly cost per avios basis but seeing as though I was skint, I felt it was worth it. Ended up not even staying in the hotel overnight.

      Yeah, I looked at the Hard Rock hotel for one night. Sleeps 5 to a room so 5 fast passes for 2 days at £350 might just be worth it so kids don’t moan as much 🙂

  Yes that was me.
  Until tomorrow ebookers has £10 off £50 spend on activities so I will be using that instead of Viator via Avios.com
