As I originally wrote on Saturday, IHG Rewards Club (the Holiday Inn, HI Express, Crowne Plaza, InterContinental etc group) will open up a new list of PointBreaks redemptions for booking this afternoon.

These rooms are a fantastic deal.

All of the 100 hotels below will be available for just 5,000 IHG Rewards Club points per night, saving up to 25,000 points per night in some cases.

Crowne Plaza Vilnius

PointBreaks availability is very limited so book ASAP if you are interested, as soon as bookings open up today. Bookings are refundable as with a standard reward reservation so there is nothing to lose.  IHG works on US time – they are meant to go live about 5pm UK time but are often there an hour or so earlier.

You can book via the IHG PointBreaks page here or via the standard booking page here.  If the PointBreaks page has not yet been updated, it does not necessarily mean that the special deals below will not already be bookable – do a search on the hotel you want.

You will be able to book these hotels for dates up to 31st July.

You allowed a maximum of two bookings per individual hotel. Each booking can be for as many nights as you want.

Remember that if you attempt to amend your booking later by dropping a night or two the whole booking will reprice at the full rate.

This list is, frankly, not great.  There are no InterContinental hotels at all.  The Crowne Plaza Vilnius, picture above, is one the higher end options in Europe. However, as I always say, the world doesn’t work like that.  We all have our individual travel schedules for the next three months and – if any of these hotels prove suitable for your itinerary – you’ve got a great deal.

    Keep up the good work. Thanks for the latest IHG 5,000 points break alert. Just booked HIEX at Lakeland South for our final night in Florida on our way back from Gulf Coast to Orlando airport the next day. Saved us 140$

      Nice work, stayed in the one near Brooks illegal on the I75 a couple of years ago for 5k. All of these seem fine for one night.

      I see yours has a Walmart nearby, could use for an off licence 😀

    Worth noting if there is limited availability on your chosen dates and you use the view available dates option, this shows the available nights but doesn’t allow you to choose the checkout day if the next day isn’t available at night so you manually have to do it. So it may show 3 nights available to stay but only allow you to select 2 nights initially, the checkout box needs to allow an extra day.

    O/T but still IHG: I recently upgraded to Ambassador and my Spire tier was extended from December 2017 expiry to December 2018. Does anybody know whether I will be eligible for the 25k points bonus for maintaining Spire? Thanks in advance.

      I emailed them last week with the same query as the website said I had already redeemed my 25k last year as wasn’t eligible even though I was into a new year of Spire via the Ambassador route (rather than earning the required points via stays). They actually phoned me from the US yesterday to discuss and after going away to check, then confirmed I was eligible for either the 25k or gifting Spire Elite to a friend (chose the latter). Had a email to confirm this yesterday too.

      Suggest you send a query via the Ambassador website saying you don’t seem to have had the option of the 25k points activated on your acocunt and await a call back from them.

        I emailed them and got this reply today

        Foremost, I apologize for the confusion. Our records show that your Spire Elite status was achieved because of your Ambassador Enrollment. In this case, IHG Rewards Club Spire benefit will not be awarded. We apologize if you receive a welcome letter stating of your benefit as it is a system generated once the system triggered the status, a welcome letter will automatically sent.

          I am in the same situation, unable to use Spire benefit having kept Spire by upgrading to Ambassador.

          I emailed IHG and was categorically that I was not eligible for the 25k points/gift platinum to a friend, despite my Ambassador welcome letter saying I was. I pushed them on it and they just kept saying no. On Flyertalk you will see a thread where everyone else in our situation has also been denied the benefit. It is interesting that Mikee was given it, i suspect he was lucky but it might be worth contacting the ambassador desk..

      Yes. It has run for 5 years or so now, I think, and no reason to think they will stop it. The list of particpating hotels just gets less interesting when the economy is in good shape!

      A couple of years ago a friend of mine booked himself 30 nights at a Crowne Plaza beach resort via PointBreaks 🙂 To save food costs, he booked 1 night at the start for cash on the ‘all inclusive’ rate, got himself the ‘all inclusive guest’ wristband and then kept it on for the whole 31 days …..

        I had a string of job interviews in California back in 2014. Rather than book an AirBNB for a month, I booked a month of pointbreaks in one hotel, near Los Angeles. I also got breakfast every morning. =D

        It was quite pleasant living in a hotel for a month for a month and the hotel was a very decent hotel in a quiet location.
