UPDATE – APRIL 2024:  This article is now out of date, but don’t worry.  We produce a monthly summary of the top hotel bonus point offers – please click HERE or use the ‘Hotel Offers’ menu above.

Marriott Bonvoy is offering 1,000 bonus points per night and double elite night credits on stays between 13th February and 29th April. Click here to read more and click here to register.

Keep up to date with new hotel offers by signing up for our free daily or weekly newsletters.

Marriott Rewards, the loyalty scheme for Marriott, Renaissance, The Ritz-Carlton, Autograph and many other hotel brands, has launched a very attractive sign-up bonus.  To put it mildly.

Marriott will give you 1,000 Avios points, for free, purely for signing up to Marriott Rewards.  No stay is required.

This isn’t just for British Airways Executive Members.  You can also earn 1,000 miles in:

  • Aeromexico Club Premier
  • Air Canada Aeroplan
  • Avianca-TACA LifeMiles
  • Etihad Guest
  • Lufthansa Miles & More
  • Qatar Privilege Club

The offer runs until 2nd September.  The page to join is here.

There is also a second part to the deal.  If you choose to credit your Marriott stays to Avios, or any of the other airline programmes listed, you will earn double miles on all stays until 2nd September.

You can see the earning rates for crediting Marriott stays to Avios on this page of ba.com.

At most brands you earn 2 Avios per $1 spent, so that would double to 4 Avios per $1 under this promotion.

The snag …..

…. of course, is that the majority of Head for Points readers will already be members of Marriott Rewards.  However, there may be members of your household account, or other family members whose accounts you look after, who are not.  This is an excellent opportunity to ensure that they sign up.

You need to sign-up via this special page of the Marriott website.

PS.  Do not necessarily sign-up for Avios if you have miles in some of the other programmes included.  In some cases, this offer may help reset an upcoming expiry date for miles you have elsewhere.  It is also harder to earn, say, Air Canada miles than Avios if you live in the UK so that may be a better choice if you accounts with both.

  • Rachael says:

Is it possible to transfer Avios between 2 accounts ? Eg I have a main account, and once my son joins up I transfer his Avios to my account ?

    • the real harry1 says:

are you talking BAEC or avios.com

short answer – yes – via household a/c – means points get pooled

long answer – a few things to think about, lots already archived here

    • Genghis says:

      BAEC household account

  • Following from behind says:

    OT:

    Source BBC:

The UAE state airline Etihad Airways said it would suspend all flights to and from Doha from 02:45 local time on Tuesday.

    • John says:

All flights between DOH and Bahrain, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and UAE will be suspended.

QR planes will soon be banned from their airspace.

      • the real harry1 says:

yep heard this on R4 just now

let’s keep politics out of it – but Qatar quite simply funds terrorism, so I’m not surprised

        • Ro says:

And we are one of the biggest arms dealers to Qatar.

        • callum says:

I don’t think “the owner of this airline funds terrorists” can plausibly be followed by “lets keep politics out of this”!

  • Anna says:

Thanks, OH and I have signed up!

OT – my HP ink cartridge Clubcard points have posted and I’ve got an email saying they are going to be delivered today, so it looks as though they are honouring the deal, mistake or otherwise.

  • Anna says:

Do you need to activate the Marriott account to get the avios or do they transfer automatically to BAEC?

  • vol says:

HP ink points have posted – still on ‘ready to be despatched’, but items not due for collection until tomorrow so they may do it today.

    • sedgie says:

My ink points have also posted, with the transaction values showing as £8132 and £4066! Hope they don’t try taking those amounts from my Tesco current a/c…

  • Neil says:

    Excellent!

Signed up my wife any my son (there’s no date of birth required), who are both on my BAEC household account, and then realised it doesn’t seem to be needing addresses either, so opened myself another account with a different email address (nice benefit of running your own domain = unlimited email addresses!).

Should be the easiest 3000 Avios I’ve ever earned!

    • RussellH says:

Agree about the advantages of having your own domain.

However, they would not let me have another membership crediting to BA, even using a totally unrealted e-mail address.

Tried again with a German e-mail and a Miles+More a/c and it worked.

Less valuable as we have spent most of our LH miles on a trip to Dresden tomorrow, but better than nothing if the miles turn up.

  • Sarah says:

The link doesn’t seem to be showing on mobile. Could somebody post please. Thanks.

  • JamesW says:

What’s going on with Qatar ?

    • Rob says:

Total cutting of diplomatic ties, Qatari nationals being thrown out of Middle East countries, airspace closed.

      • BP says:

I almost went to work for Qatar National Bank – glad I didn’t now!

      • John says:

Let’s hope their enemies don’t realise that – to Willie Walsh’s joy – Qatar is a huge IAG investor. Heathrow too, I think I remember reading (?)

        • Lady London says:

          And Aspreys.

Oh, and the big one Qatar owns is…….drum roll…..Harrods!!!

I’ve forgotten what else Qatar owns round London but it’s lots
