IHG’s European Summer Flash Sale ends today

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

Yeah, sorry about that.  We meant to cover this yesterday but it got missed as I made my way back from Amsterdam.

IHG has been running a short flash sale for the UK and Europe this week.  This covers Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo etc.

The rules are simple:

Book by today, 1st July

Stay between 7th July and 10th September

You can only book via this link and not via the usual home page

No InterContinental hotels are taking part, so you won’t be staying at Paris Le Grand pictured above

Only UK and European hotels are participating

The discount is usually 25% off Best Available Rate.  However, as these sale rates are non-cancellable and non-refundable, you should really be comparing them to the existing Advanced Purchase rates.  Your saving won’t be as high as 25% but it should be cheaper than it was.

If you have existing IHG bookings for the Summer which can be changed, you may want to check the pricing.  You may feel happier turning an existing refundable rate into a non-refundable booking as the date gets nearer.

IHG Rewards Club is running its very generous Accelerate promotion again this Summer.  The current version, which I discussed here, is well worth it for most people.  All stays you make until 31st August will count.

Remember that you can only book these flash sale deals via this link.

  • Julie Avenell says:

It may be worth checking Intercontinental. I received an email from IHG about the sale. I already had a booking for IC in Malta in July and found exactly the same room at 15% lower so cancelled and rebooked.

  • Gavin says:

More expensive than the MasterCard rate. I’m monitoring prices at a Holiday Inn as need to provide some hotel rooms for my Inlaws the night before our wedding.

  • Fenny says:

I haven’t bothered with my Accelerate offers this quarter. Not really worth it, even for a Saturday night away. I got stuffed last time on a points & cash booking and they’ve included it again and upped the number of Stay more nights.

    • Paul says:

Agreed. The Hilton offer of 2000 miles plus award miles plus double points is the daddy.

      • Alan says:

Yeah it’s definitely a decent deal, just wish it applied to reward stays too!

I haven’t bothered with Accelerate this quarter either.

  • Sandra says:

Has anyone renewed/bought IC Ambassador lately? it’s now 2 months since we did and no voucher yet. The site says there are delays at the moment with Ambassador Club memberships and the problem with IHG is there is no simple way of emailing a question and calling is not convenient most of the time!

    • Genghis says:

I bought over a week ago but no surprise not turned up. From experience takes about a month. 2 months seems a bit too long…

    • CV3V says:

oh it can take months, and then they say they did post it out and must have got lost. Or in one case they ‘tried to deliver it but they courier said my address didn’t exist’! Its been their way for years, the delays aren’t new.

    • Chris says:

Took nearly five months for mine this year, when i complained i was offered 1,000 points as compensation and they expedited delivery of my pack…

    • Pid says:

Worth complaining. Last year I got lots of points as compensation. I also ended up with 3 vouchers!

  • Frankie says:

Rob, the link to the sale page isn’t working.

  • Dej says:

Do people no longer use the friends and family rate?

    • Rob says:

Still out there but lack of points, lack of Accelerate credit and price close to sale prices means it is less interesting.

  • Peter G says:

    Hi Rob,
On a similar but related item re IHG points.
I have received a 100% bonus offer so I can purchase a total of 120,000 points for $690 …that’s around £530 which seems a “no brainer” but I would welcome your opinion as to value.

    • Genghis says:

Valued 0.4p-0.5p ea so certainly not a no brainer. Note you don’t earn points on reward stays. I’m not a speculative buyer.

    • Rob says:

As Genghis says, it is not a no brainer unless you have clear plans. If you know you will be in some expensive places soon where IHG has good properties it might work, however.

  • Pid says:

Annoyingly need to book all my stays through the app at the moment to meet accelerate offer. This always happens so I always miss out on these additional points.

    • Crafty says:

Are these tracking for you? It’s the only part of my Accelerate targets that isn’t doing so properly for me.
