Le Club AccorHotels, the loyalty scheme for Sofitel, Pullman, Mercure, Novotel, Ibis etc, is launching a new Avios promotion today.

You will receive 500 bonus Avios on your next stay, between today and 30th September, at any Novotel or Mercure hotel worldwide.

You need to register for this offer on this page of the Accor website if you want British Airways Avios and on this page if you want Iberia Plus Avios.

The new Novotel at Canary Wharf is pictured below:

As always with Accor and Avios, there are some quirks.

You need to switch your earning preference from ‘points’ to ‘miles’ in your profile

In general, you should always select Iberia and NOT British Airways.  This is because the conversion rate from Accor to Iberia is 1:1 whilst from Accor to British Airways it is 2:1.  Because the bonus is fixed at 500 Avios, however, it doesn’t make much difference here.  You will be a little better off taking Iberia Avios, though, because of the variable Avios earned based on your room rate.

If you have over 3,000 Accor points in your account, switching from ‘points’ to ‘miles’ will convert your entire existing points balance.  Do not do this if you don’t want that to happen.  (In theory, as an Accor point is worth 2 Eurocents of free hotel or 1 Iberia Avios, points are a better deal so converting is not a great idea.)

And it will double up ….

This promotion should (but obviously no guarantees) double up with the current main Accor promotion.

This offers triple points (quadruple points for Platinum members) for stays in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.   That offer involves booking by 23rd July for stays before 3rd September.  You can learn about that offer in this article and register here.

And there’s a UK sale ….

For bookings made before 25th August, for stays before 10th September, the 115 Novotel and Mercure hotels in the UK are currently offering Summer Sale discounts of up to 35%.  You don’t need to do a UK stay to get the 500 Avios, however, as it is available at all Novotel and Mercure hotels globally.

Conclusion

500 Avios plus triple Accor points (which would automatically convert into more Avios) for a cheap one night Novotel or Mercure stay is not a bad offer if you can work it into your schedule.

The registration page for 500 bonus Avios is here for BA and here for Iberia, where you will also find all the rules.

  • Phil says:

Hey Rob, this offer can’t be doubled up. Clause 10 in the T&Cs for both offers says: ‘This offer cannot be combined with other current promotional offers or advantages and does not apply to groups.
If the stay meets the terms and conditions for several offers, only the Rewards points linked to the most generous offer (meaning that allows you to earn the highest number of Rewards points) will be credited to your account.’

  • ups says:

How will you earn 500 points and triple Accor points? As you say you need to switch to earning miles to get 500 avios and as such you won’t earn any Accor points.

    • ups says:

I guess you meant Accor points which won’t be transferred to avios immediately if you’re below the threshold…

    • Rob says:

You’re not doing that. You are switching to have your points automatically convert to miles.

  • Yoggo says:

How do I link my Iberia/Avios account to Le Club Accor? I can’t find anything on my account pages that lets me do this.

    • Bob says:

Go to the redemption menu to select an option with airlines.

  • Mark says:

Does this offer apply retrospectively? I know the other Accor offers don’t (booked the Sofitel at T5 just after the other offers were launched!) but worth asking

  • cristian says:

hi there how do you use the 2 free lounge visit from the amex gold ? do you pay the fee and they will credit to you account or you just have to show you lounge club card ? thank you

    • Genghis says:

Just hand over lounge club card

      • Brighton Belle says:

Can I take me and a significant other into the lounge to burn the 2 passes?

        • Alan says:

Yep, either you for 2 visits or you and guest on 1 visit.

  • CC says:

Im going to be booking 2 x rooms with Accor, will be around £500 in total.

“For the avoidance of doubt, a reservation made for more than one room will therefore be considered as only one (1) stay.”

So my 2 rooms will be 1 stay, and that one stay costs £500, so does that mean I get quadruple the points on the £500 spent or just the value or what 1 of the rooms I will be staying in?

    • CC says:

Above comment is regarding the quadruple points for Platinum members by the way not about the 500 bonus avios that this post is about. (Other post closed for comments)
