Important dates for your diary – offers about to close which you shouldn’t miss

Here is the latest edition of our fortnightly feature which summarises offers that are ending soon. It pulls together the different deals mentioned on our Avios Promos, Hotel Promos, Credit Cards and regular article pages.

calendar

As usual at this time of year, it is fairly quiet until the end of month.  The only deals worth flagging are 15,000 American Airlines miles for getting their new £70 credit card (ends 22nd August) and the generous Avios deal with Alan Boswell Insurance – details here – which ends on 15th August and is worth up to 10,000 Avios per policy.

There is also the BA Club Europe holidays flash sale, which ends on Monday.  My article from yesterday is here.

Comments

  1. The Original Nick. says:

Has anyone had any 2000 Avios post to their BAEC accounts from the Hilton Promo?

  2. The Original Nick says:

Ummm, my qualifying stays were mid June and still haven’t transferred over to my BAEC account.

    • I got one from the beginning of June added this week after I chased Hilton on it, so I would get into them.

  3. Did we ever find out whether you can get further 2k avios bonuses if you start to credit to Iberia?

I’ve got the 10k to BAEC and a few stays coming up…

  4. Von Schmallhausen says:

I hate Hilton points – 2 stays points posted to BAEC in c.5 days, another 2 still waiting 6 weeks later. Almost as bad as Shell who I have to email to get ANY points posted…

  5. OT – if I buy a Selfridges gift card online, will it trigger the spend £100 get £30 back amex offer?

    • Instore, yes. Online – should be OK as long as it is processed directly. Some shops sell their vouchers via third parties.

  6. O/T:

Accor claims I am not entitled to their 2000 bonus points as part of the deal when I stayed at Novotel Suites Cannes Centre a month ago. My further 2 emails left unanswered.

The booking info in my email says (and I have a proof of it) :
    “….Special terms 3:
Bonus: on top of earning Le Club AccorHotels points, you will receive 2000 bonus points within a week after your stay, representing a EUR 40 reduction to use on your future stay. ~ ”

Did anyone have the same experience 1) not having bonus points credited, 2) lack of customer service?

    Thank you in advance.

  7. OT

I have seen an amex cashback offer on my Gold MR charge card and also on Amex Connect which I have added onto my lloyds issue card.

Can I make a purchase in store and split the payments across both cards to get maximum cashback ?

    • Should be fine as long as each transaction is above the minimum amount you need. I’ve done this before and got £150 off a camera in Jessops.

      • If all works correct I should save £200 off some jewellery! Let’s just hope the shop let me split the payment and that they aren’t aware of the Amex offers. In my experience most are not so you can stack again with any other offers.

        • Johnny_c-l says:

The shop won’t care, you’ll be fine. Enjoy the free £200!

For reference I’ve split a purchase successfully across 7 cards before with no issues (albeit I wasn’t their favourite client!).

        • I have bought a gift card with ShopSmall and split it £10 on each of 16 cards.
They know me now when I walk into the shop, and I am very welcome.

  8. “Tuesday 15th August
Last day to earn double Avios – up to £10,000 – with your household, business or landlord insurance”

typo with the pound sign 🙁

btw, i got a quote for contents only insurance from them – not even the Avios would have made it competitive.
