Which British Airways European routes do not offer lounge access?

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

On Saturday we ran a review of the ANA lounge at Porto airport.  This is notable because – whilst it is the only lounge at Porto – British Airways refuses to pay for Club Europe or status passengers to use it.

(If you read HfP by email, you didn’t receive this review because I felt it was a bit of a niche topic to drop into 10,000 inboxes.  You can read the article here.)

Courtesy of Flyertalk, I have a list of all British Airways short-haul destinations which do not offer lounge access.  This is a great bit of crowd sourcing work from the FT community. Keep this list in mind next time you book a trip and are considering whether to upgrade to Club Europe or not.

    Hi,

Brindisi and Bari for the Summer don’t have a lounge.

  • JamesB says:

Where airports have landside lounges for arrivals or departures can we access these with Priority Pass etc alone or do we also need a boarding pass for a flight on the same day?

  • JohnT says:

Next we need a list of the similar BA long haul routes, like New Orleans now that they are flying to smaller airports?

  • Tony Burns says:

Does lack of a lounge really spoil a city trip? Somehow I think not.

  • Greenpen says:

Also interesting would be a list of poor lounges, albeit that this might be rather subjective. I would start with Verona. On my last two visits there the coffee machines have not been working and there is an abysmal selection of food. It is also before security which I find difficult too.

  • NickS says:

Just experienced the delights of Catania Fontaressa airport. Crowded stuffy and hot… and it was only 23c outside so goodness knows what it is like on a hot day…. and a heaving mass of humanity late morning. BA check in for club fairly easy with no queue but staff totally disinterested and seemed to take great delight in advising that there is no BA lounge at the airport! There is a small (and I mean VERY small) Salle VIP which was almost as hot and stuffy as the main terminal. My wife and I got in with my Amex plat priority card. Not convinced that I won’t be charged for the guest but let’s see what happens. The lounge staff had certainly not heard of Amex Platinum! NB it is past security but in the domestic section of the terminal so you have still got to get through passport control so can’t hang about in the lounge till the last minute. Not that you would want to bother as only tea coffee and soft drinks on offer (though small bottles of water are available so don’t buy one elsewhere!) also some packets of crisps, pretzels and cake type substances….oh and one croissant at 11am..not really worth lingering in as it’s crowded, warm and small but at least quiet.

    • Gin and Tonic Please says:

We were there recently too. Really dreadful airport. Fortunately we were on one of the last flights of the evening so it wasn’t too hot but wow it was still crowded. The lounge was packed but we went in anyway as it was the only place we could find a seat…

    • Alan says:

If you just used the PP card supplied with your Amex card then you’ll be fine – the billing is done at the PP end (with link to Amex) so as long as the lounge have correctly entered it on the system as 2 people then you won’t get a bill. Given you’re entering on PP I wouldn’t expect them to know about Amex Plat – that’s more used as the direct entry route for Amex’s own lounges, Eurostar lounge, etc.

  • Tina says:

    I don’t think Tirana has a BA lounge…..?
