Review: the new InterContinental Ljubljana hotel in Slovenia (Part 2)

This is part two of my hotel review of the brand new InterContinental in Ljubljana.

Part 1 of our InterContinental Ljubljana review can be found here and looks at the guest rooms and meeting facilities. Part Two will look at the Club Lounge, restaurants, gym and spa.

The Club Lounge at InterContinental Ljubljana

Though not usually included with the Superior Room we were staying in, we did get access to the Club Lounge so that we could see what is offered.

Located on the 19th floor you get a great view over the Alps on one side and the old town with the castle on the other side of the lounge.

There were several sitting areas with dining tables next to the windows and a TV corner at the far back.

Evening snacks and drinks are served from 5pm – 7pm with drinks including wine, beer and long drinks.

There was a selection of sandwiches, salad and warm canapes. I guess you could have these snacks as a light dinner, but as the restaurants in Ljubljana are fantastic I recommend having a couple of bites and drinks and then enjoying a meal by the river.

The lounge serves breakfast from 6:30 until 10:30. It’s a small selection of the breakfast served in the restaurant. There were eggs, sausages, cereals as well as a great bread selection and cheese, fish and cold cuts. You can also order egg dishes from the menu.

B-Restaurant

With so much choice in the city, I didn’t eat lunch or dinner in the hotel restaurant so cannot say anything about the menu. I did really like the restaurant interior with various coloured chairs and sofas.

Breakfast is served in the restaurant from 6:30 – 10:30.

The food selection was vast and the arrangement reminded me of a food market. There was an area with several cheeses, fish and cold cuts, another area with a great bread selection and cereals, fruits as well as yoghurts.

You could also order fresh dishes from the menu which were prepared in the open kitchen behind the buffet area.

Next to the restaurant is the B Bar with a roof terrace with views over the old town and the castle.

Bloom Lounge

On the ground floor next to the reception area is the Bloom Lounge, a coffee and cocktail bar that appeared to be very popular with locals.

Spa at InterContinental Ljubljana

The 18th floor is dedicated to the hotel’s spa, Saruna Wellness.

There is a swimming pool (1.50m), a hot tub, a finnish sauna, steam room and an infrared sauna.

The gym was a bit narrow but with all the equipment facing either the Alps or the old town you shouldn’t notice this whilst working out. The picture below shows the cross trainers. There were more machines around the corner to the right and left to the cross trainers were the treadmills. There was also an area with mats.

Conclusion

The InterContinental Ljubljana is a great hotel choice when staying in Slovenia’s capital which was previously lacking in high-end hotel options.

It is modern and cosy with spacious and stylish rooms, a great spa and with amazing views pretty much everywhere in the hotel.
