Loyalty Traveler reports that Starwood is now offering elite stay credit and SPG points for up to three rooms per stay (apparently this started on March 1st but went unreported or unpublicised at that point). The SPG members needs to book all the rooms in their name and pay the bill, as well as staying in one of the rooms.
As well as benefiting people who book multiple rooms for their family (one for the adults, one for the children) it will also be helpful for anyone doing a mattress run at the end of the year to retain their elite status. As long as you take your partner along, you could now book two rooms at a cheap property (eg, on the right day, one of the Heathrow Sheratons), get credit for both and halve the amount of time needed for your run.
If you have registered (it is now too late for the full bonus) for the Club Carlson 50k / 44k bonus point promotions, a quick scout around last night showed that the cheapest Radisson rooms available on weekdays in Central London before the promo ends are on Friday 13th July – £79 + VAT at the Grafton and £72 + VAT at the Vanderbilt.
The Radisson Edwardian Heathrow is also £72 + VAT that night. Interestingly, the Heathrow property also does day rooms from 11am to 4pm for £40 including VAT, but it isn’t clear if that counts for this promotion or not.
Don’t spend close to £100 booking a room you don’t need, though, unless you have a firm plan to redeem the free night for something subtantially more expensive. And if you fancy a day trip to Southend, the Park Inn is £85 including VAT on Friday 20th July!
Please consider using our Radisson affiliate link to book. Thank you.
