JustBook, a new last minute hotel booking app

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

JustBook is a new hotel booking app, available from your local app store (App Store, Android Market, Blackberry).

It is a very niche product – every day, at noon, it lists 3 (and only 3) hotels in each city it covers, available only for that same evening.  All are discounted (in theory).

JustBook appears to be German-run, since it has substantial coverage across German cities, as well as Austria and Switzerland.  Of more relevance, it is well represented in the UK with Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, Manchester and Oxford covered.

Outside these places, it is currently patchy.  Amsterdam, Brussels, Budapest, Dublin and Prague are covered but no other cities in those countries.

JustBook is doing a promo with The Independent at the moment.  If you download the app and enter Indy as the promotional code when registering, you will receive €20 of credit against a future booking.  This is of greatest use outside London, obviously.

I did a quick comparison on Monday evening of some of the offerings.  The Indigo in Glasgow was £96 vs £135 on priorityclub.com.  The Radisson Blu in Birmingham was £111 vs but just £103 on the hotels own site!  The Macdonald Holyrood in Edinburgh was £107 vs £170 direct.  Dukes Hotel in London was £276 vs £281 direct.

There are savings to be had, then, but you need to do your homework.  The €20 credit means you should save OK, though, at least on your first booking.

Thanx for the heads up. Just a few points to note…

While the Independent states a £20 voucher, it is indeed only €20, and is only valid until 6 Oct.

There are other similar voucher codes stating £ like ‘MyFinances” but you can only enter a welcome vouchercode once.

You get a further €5 discount for sign up, but you can only apply 1 voucher per booking.

Hotels are only shown between 1200-1400 for the same night.

You can invite a friend for which you get a €10 voucher, but then they can’t get the €20 voucher.

It seems the voucher is registered against both the account and device (only mobile access), as logging in with a new account on the same device still shows the existing vouchers and you can’t enter a new and different welcome voucher code. i.e. you can’t invite yourself for a new account on the same device (uninstalling the app inbetween doesn’t help either).

Thanks for that. The Independent also stated the voucher was valid until 31st December, which it clearly isn’t.

Did you get 6th October for a registration today or earlier in the week? Perhaps you can register at any point up to 31st December but your voucher is only ever valid for a week? Mine also expires 6th October but I registered on Monday.

      • Trevor says:

Sorry for misunderstanding caused – the voucher code is valid until 6 Oct, i.e. must register account and voucher code by then, but the voucher once received (which I neglected to mention, thanx for nudge) must be used by 31 Dec.

        • Raffles says:

The voucher in my JustBook account shows a 6 October expiry, though, hence my earlier post! (Unless it has updated itself, don’t have ipad to hand at the moment.)

        • Trevor says:

I hadn’t noticed the voucher date – mine says 10/8/12 for a registration today, so assuming American date format, that would be 8 Oct 12 expiry – only giving me 4 days to use! Yet from their websites, The Independent and myfinances state respectively:

“Now Independent readers can get an additional £20 off the discounted price by registering the app by 6 October. You’ll have to use the £20 voucher towards a single booking in any of JustBook’s destinations before 31 December.”

          and…

“Download the free JustBook app and quote voucher code “MyFinances” upon registration by midnight on Saturday 6th October, 2012 in order to receive £20 off your first hotel booking with JustBook. Voucher can then be used towards a single booking in any one of JustBook’s 34 European city destinations from today to 31 December 2012.”

While they agree with each other, they of course disagree with the voucher’s own date. We’ll have to wait and see what happens on this one.

Thanks for your feedback, I appreciate it.
