  Would one earn more Virgin Miles by paying with a Virgin AMEX, rather than an alternative Amex ?

    Not sure about Virgin, but normally miles purchases are handled by a third party and the credit card is charged in their name, so no bonus. With BA, your card is charged by points.com for eg.

      I’ve never heard of them before.
      I am UK based and collect Avios on BA, miles on Virgin and very small accruals with AA and KLM.
      Whilst most of my miles are accrued by using the BA Amex and the Virgin Amex, plus flight purchases. Does points.com provide a significant earning potential to add to my accounts ?

        No, it is almost useless.

        The only small benefit is that you can swap miles between some programmes. So, for example, if you had 1000 US Airways miles which are useless, you can swap them – free – for 425 Priority Club points or 219 AA miles. A poor rate, but of course if your US miles will otherwise expire unused it is useful.

        Not many programmes are exchange partners, though, and those that are often have high minimums, eg AA insists you have a 25k balance to trade.

  It’s been asked before, but it bears asking again.

  Is it actually possible to redeem virgin miles without paying extortionate ‘charges’. (Ignore the recent domestic routes)
