Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Win 5,000 Avios to celebrate Head for Points reaching the UK’s top 5,000 websites

I’m delighted to say that Head for Points is now ranked as one of the UK’s top 5,000 websites by visitor numbers, based on the rankings produced by alexa.com, Amazons web ranking service.

(Alexa’s tracking code is embedded in the HfP site, so – whilst Alexa does get criticised sometimes for the accuracy of its figures – the HfP numbers it uses are accurate.)

At the time of writing, we are ranked 4,990 in the UK.  We may have dropped up or down by a few places by the time you read this, but we are roughly at position 5,000!

For comparison, Business Traveller is ranked at 15,700 in the UK.  Even Flyertalk is only ranked at 6,700 in the UK.  Of course, both of these sites have a bigger global reach than Head for Points, but we are primarily a UK site after all.

In celebration of this, and indeed to celebrate our first birthday on July 2nd, I am running a competition to win 5,000 Avios points!

All you need to do to enter is to make a random comment at the bottom of this post.  The rules are:

You can enter a maximum of once per person

You must include an email address in your comment (NOT in the text bit of your comment, but in the box on the Comment form which asks for an email address.  Only I can see this.)

To receive your prize, you must already have an active British Airways Executive Club account with a balance above zero.  An avios.com account is NOT acceptable, unfortunately, as avios.com does not allow internal transfers of points.

If the winner does NOT have a British Airways Executive Club account, you will need to open one after you win.  However, you cannot receive your prize until you have earned some Avios in the account (taken a flight, transferred some Tesco Clubcard vouchers, made a small purchase via the Avios e-store, bought some Avios etc.)

Your email address in your comment must include your first name (or first initial) and surname.  If it does not, you must use your real name (initial or first name plus surname) in the ‘Name’ field of your comment.

The Avios will be transferred directly into the ba.com account held by the winner.  The name on the Avios account MUST match the first name or initial plus surname given in your comment or the transfer won’t go through.  There is no point trying to enter more than once!

The competition closes at midnight on Friday 12 July, UK time

If you win, you need to be willing to supply me with your full name, email address as per your Avios account and your BAEC membership number.  I will attempt to transfer the Avios within 24 hours of receiving this information.

That’s it!  Once the competition has closed, I will use a random number generator to pick out a number and that comment, counting down from the earliest, will be the winner.

Thank you for your continued support with the site, and good luck.
