Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Iberia still offering up to 30% bonus when you buy Avios – ends 4th August

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

A quick reminder that August 4th is the last day to buy Avios points via Iberia Plus for a bonus of up to 30%.

Here is the Iberia page for buying Avios.  Note, though, that you need to log in to see the details of the bonus promotion.

If you have an active Iberia Plus account (ie the account is over 90 days old and you have earned 1 Avios in it directly – not sure if buying Avios in itself is enough) then you can transfer them to BA or avios.com using ‘Combine My Avios’.  This is free.

The price you pay will depend on the foreign exchange rate on the date you buy.  The minimum is 2,000 for €54, €91 for 4,000 and €459 for 24,000.   Oddly, there are only 8 amounts of Avios you can buy – 1,000 or 5,000 are not possible.  It is weirdly inflexible.

The bonus levels are:

4,000 Avios – get 10% extra

8,000 – 12,000 Avios – get 15% bonus

15,000 – 20,000 Avios – get 20% bonus

24,000 Avios – get 30% bonus

At the top end, you would receive 31,200 Avios with the bonus and be paying roughly 1.26p per Avios for them.  Not the cheapest deal ever, but certaily better than the standard rate for buying them from BA or avios.com.

For me this a good deal. It equates to 2 return business trips to Warsaw . For £200 per trip. Via rfs. You wouldn’t get a ba economy ticket for that

    • Richie says:

When I say you won’t get an economy ticket I mean a 2 or 3 day return at the short notice I require

Think I had too many beers last night , my maths is not working this morning . Not such a deal after all
