Genuinely free stuff from Achica for Amex Platinum cardholders

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

If you have an American Express Platinum card you should have received the latest emailed edition of Platinum Life yesterday.

Tucked away at the bottom, so you might have missed it, was a mention of a £20 discount for discount homewares site Achica.

The good news is that this is a ‘clean’ £20 discount with no minimum spend.  The voucher even discounts the postage cost – so if you spend £15 or less, you will have nothing to pay.

Taittinger

If you’re in need of socks, bedding, shower gel or other household bits and pieces then you should find a way of spending your £20 easily enough.  Personally, I’ve ordered this half-bottle of Taittinger with an ice bucket, which comes to a grand total of £6.75!

The promotional code you need for the Achica website is ACHICA20AMEX.  If your order is less than £20 including postage, the payment options disappear entirely when you enter the code, as there is nothing to pay.

This offer is targeted at Amex Platinum cardholders although they do not ask for a card number if you spend under £20 and if you spend over £20 you can use any card to pay the balance.

    Looks like it’s dead:

“We are sorry but you’ve already used the voucher ACHICA20AMEX in previous transacton.”

    • AviosNewbie says:

Interestingly, it appears that something like this was done before – I tried the voucher code ACHICA25AMEX (instead of 20) and got the message: “This promotion has ended”. Which means it was active at some point.

So perhaps just try this code with a few random numbers for discount after some days, and it might just work!

  • nickerss says:

I go the same “voucher code has already been used” message when I tried.

  • Fred says:

“Sorry, this voucher is not activated”. Finally, hours later, their techies are on the case. Interesting to see if they honour the earlier orders….

  • Dave says:

    Pikeys’,the lot of ye!

  • Kevin says:

Web site says’ACHICA20AMEX is invalid’, which may be because I am a bit late n he case. Bit of a shame as I was happy to use Amex Plat with the discount. But won’t be using it without.

  • Juha says:

Same here – code is invalid. (Surprise!)
I called Amex support. The agent was not aware of the offer and referred this to the ‘marketing team’, whoever those people are. They should get back to me next week as they are not working on the weekend.
My theory is, loads of people (mostly without an Amex Platinum) took advantage of this offer and Achica pulled the plug. They’ve obviously noticed. The question is, will they cancel any existing orders that used the code?
The Amex homepage still has the offer and says that it is valid until 21 October, so I would expect some sort of compensation for actual Platinum cardholders, maybe personalised voucher codes.

    • Frenske says:

Mine total including delivery was lower the £20 so I was not even asked to use an AmEx Platinum, I have only a lowly goldie. We will see.

    • Sideysid says:

sounds like sour grapes to me…

    • Goonerfish says:

I would imagine you weren’t even aware of this deal until you saw it here and now because you missed all the fun and games your talking about compensation!?!? Unbelievable!!

      • Juha says:

        ???
I read about it in the newsletter from Amex, which I received on Thursday. My understanding is that when a firm of which I am a customer and to which I am paying a couple of hundred quid a year promises to give me a £20 voucher valid for one month then I should get that voucher.
If you do not agree with this that is fine by me but I doubt this is the forum for discussing our differences.

  • KimJoi says:

Just checked for updates on Achica website …
    Status: Paid
    Track: Order Accepted

I paid nett £0.75 (after using the voucher code + Amex Gold).

  • phil says:

Same here both orders I did for my wife and I have gone to paid and order accepted 🙂
