Iberia launches its new logo and livery

Not content with losing €1m per day, BA’s sister airline, Iberia, has been splashing out on a new logo.  It won’t have been cheap, given that the press release speaks of 9,000 people being put through focus groups in order to get their comments!

This is the new logo:

Iberia new 2

This is the old logo:

Iberia logo

And some wise words:

Taking its inspiration from Spanish culture and its influence in the world, the new image is intended to convey an expressive, life-affirming and up-to-date message, reflecting the profound changes underway at Iberia.

The red and yellow of the Spanish flag remain prominent, with a starring role for red as [the] symbol of Spain’s vitality, expressiveness, and art, and of the Spanish character. The design of the company’s IB code letters denotes agility, liveliness, and comfort.

The new logo will be rolled out over the next few months.  I’m not sure what website the people in the video were looking at, because iberia.com has not been refreshed yet when I look at it!

  • Hingeless says:

At leat they are not painting patterns on the tail fins. . .

  • Phillip says:

The new colour scheme is too white for my liking! Maybe that was part if the saving – less coloured paint on the planes!

    • Rob says:

American always used to say how much money they saved by not painting their planes, as the paint obviously weighed something and so increased fuel burn. Not possible on composite planes like 787s to leave them unpainted, it seems.

  • erico1875 says:

I suppose they are as well doing it now while the Spanish economy is riding high.
Just imagine the unthinkable and Spain went into recession.. It wouldnt look good splashing all that money when people were losing their jobs and homes.

  • Tara @ Miles To The Wild says:

I’d rather they get school kids to paint the planes in arts & crafts as long as they don’t go the way of Spanair.

  • What's the Point says:

Has anyone encountered problems searching for Avios flights on Iberia website? I have tried multiple times over the last two weeks or so and continue to get error messages – like “return date must be after departure date”. Even though I had put the correct dates in.

    • Rob says:

I was looking for something else last week and also had trouble like that. The IB website is an embarressment.

  • What's the Point says:

Its been saying this for at least 10 days now when trying to search for Avios redemptions!
“We have encountered some difficulty in dealing with this booking. We apologize for the inconvenience and ask you to please try again after a few minutes. If the error persists please contact us”
