New Starwood dining discounts in London for SPG members

Starwood Preferred Guest has launched a new range of dining discounts for its members.

These are valid globally, but I have just focussed on the London ones here.  You can navigate through the website to look at other areas.  The key here is that you don’t need to be a hotel guest to take advantage of these discounts – and you will earn SPG points for your meal at the same time!

Here is the new London list.

As you can see, the general discount is 10 per cent off your food bill, although a couple of places are offering 15 per cent.  Spice Market (photo above) at the W Leicester Square is included in the ‘10% discount’ list, which makes it an interesting option for anyone (sub 30 years of age!) planning a night out in the West End.

Starwood Preferred Guest is free to join at spg.com although you will need to print off a membership card as they do not send one until you have completed one hotel stay.  American Express Platinum members get an automatic status boost to Gold level as long as they register at americanexpress.co.uk/platinum and complete the appropriate online form.

Here is my secret tip for a fairly quiet meal and drink in the West End.  Next door to the W is the Empire casino.  This has free entry, although ID will be required.  Inside it is fairly classy with a number of decent eating and drinking options, including a bar with an outside balcony overlooking Leicester Square.  As with all casinos, the food and drink is modestly priced as well.
