Special ‘statement credit’ offers from Amex inc Argos, Dixons Travel, Harvey Nichols

American Express has launched a series of special offers for cardholders, offering cashback on purchases at selected retailers.

What is different this time is that the discounts ONLY seem to appear on the American Express website when you are logged in. This may (or may not) be an experiment by Amex to see if anyone actually reads the website when checking their statement!

This is what I see across all 3 of my cards. You need to click ‘save’ on the offer on the website in order to activate the discount, it is not automatic:

£10 off £50 spend at Harvey Nichols

£10 off £50 spend at D&D Restaurants (ex Conran)

£15 off £100 spend at Blacks

£10 off £30 spend at Collar & Cuffs (who?)

If anyone has a BA Amex (free one) or Amex Gold and sees anything different, please post.

Meanwhile, some new general offers have appeared on the Amex website:

£10 off £50 spend at Argos (exp 16/12, first 1500 people only) (EDIT: 1,500 limit already reached it seems)

£15 off £60 spend at Carphone Warehouse (exp 16/12)

£25 off £80 spend at Ocado (first time customers, exp 16/12)

£10 off £75 spend at Dixons Travel (under the Travel tab, exp 16/12)

10% off at Heals

There are also bonus points available for shopping at other retailers, but nothing too exciting.

Note that you need to activate each offer before it is valid.

One interesting quirk you may want to exploit is to buy gift cards in Argos for other retailers.

The Argos offer is now full.

    • Simon says:

Sorry, just seen your edit to say this. Also, the BA Premium Amex has the three offers without the D&D restaurant, as per the non-Premium Amex mentioned above.

  • David says:

As a Platinum corporate card I’ve only got the collars and cuffs offer…

  • Roger says:

Mrs Roger and I registered for Dixons Travel and Argos last week. Just two cards each as the offers were less inspiring for us than last time.

The Dixons offer could go hand in hand with the double Heathrow Rewards offer this month. I was thinking about buying a digital radio – gosh, replacement buying already! Browsing, I was surprised to see that Dixons no longer offer radios at Heathrow.

Thanks for the hint about buying Visa gift cards at Argos. Unlike Dixons Travel, Argos have digital radios, though many are house brands.

  • pazza2000 says:

Only the Blacks and the Cuffs & Cuffs offers available across my BA, Gold MR, SPG. Could have made use of the Argos or the HN offer, not these however.

  • KageyWorld says:

This just in: (sadly no Harvey Nicks)
Your Card is now registered to receive additional rewards when you spend at House of Fraser, Debenhams, Hobbs, Fenwick and Bentalls, Kiddicare, Morrisons Cellar and Eurostar between 11 November and 16 December 2013.

  • James67 says:

Took advantage of £10 credit offer at Debenhams about a month ago. Does this stop me from receiving another credit in the current offer?

  • Luke says:

Does anyone know if your allowed more than 1 additional cardholder on the Lloyds avios account?

  • Koshka says:

Some Carphone Warehouse branches sold gift cards for other stores in the run up to Xmas last year. I found out by accident when I was using the Foursquare offer earlier this year.

    • pazza2000 says:

Really… Now this is interesting? In the 4S promo of last year, I purchased a couple hundred of CPW gift vouchers (more like credit notes), which I now have little use for. I do not see why these could not be used to purchase other giftcards within CPW. Can you remember what retailers? I have yet to come across these in store however I shall keep an eye out in the future.
