    You’re lucky! My next trip has a cheapest room of £144 – that’s what I paid for 3 of the 4 nights of the previous IHG Big Win! Not sure I’ll be doing this too considering much greater outlay, no bonus codes (new IHG ones coming out on LoyaltyLobby), only getting 1-4 nights back, and no Point Break options.

  For anyone who has CC gold there is a possibility that this could work with the 4 for 2 weekend stays, whenever I’ve used these 4 nights have posted to my account.

    As in you stay 1 night during a weekend, do this twice, hence 4 rather than 2 nights post? Therefore, you’re hoping that this’ll qualify you as you have at least 3 nights? Interesting thought – I don’t know CC (though I am Gold) or of the offer, can you supply more info please?

      Hi Simon, thanks for reply and link(s). That makes more sense, will look into it. If 2 cheap weekend nights can post as 4, this may make it worthwhile. Assume that if a stay is booked as 2 nights (even though only paying for 1), if you check-out early (ie only stay the 1st night as that’s all that is required), both night’s will still post.

        It would be better not to tell them you are checking out early I would say and just ring during the morning after the 2nd night and say you left that morning but had to leave in a rush and didn’t have time to check out.

        The terms and conditions say nights booked with points don’t count towards the 3 nights but that is the only exclusion I can see so in theory a 2 for 1 stay should get you two thirds of the way to the 38,000 points. Checked the nearest Club Carlson hotel to me and the first 2 for 1 night I could book was December 18th 2014!

    Yes, after 24 months if your account has no activity, this is what the website states

    Gold Points do not have an expiration date as long as your account remains active by earning or redeeming within a 24 month period.

    Should be, Carlson does not seem to play silly games like IHG does on what counts. In fact, IHG seems to be the only chain who get fussy about your rate when giving points.

    The new Radisson Blu in Chicago is meant to be impressive. Nothing life changing in their portfolio, although – to be fair – some solid four stars in London like the new Park Plaza opposite Westminster, near the Eye.

    If you’re travelling to Scandi, they are great – hotels everywhere and you save a fortune given the high prices there.

      The Plaza on the River in Londo is supposed to be really nice too. I often stay at the Riverbank, and the Plaza on the River is in the same building with serviced apartment accomodation.

    Ah, is that what the HIX is? Didn’t know that. I always use the Rotherham examples because I was brought up there and my brother still lives there. I am an occasional visitor to the Holiday Inn (ex Marriott, ex Swallow, ex Beeches!) at Junction 33 …..
