Various new IHG Rewards Club promotional codes have come to light.   These will give a decent boost to your next paid stay at a Holiday Inn, HI Express, Crowne Plaza, InterContinental etc.

IHG issues these codes to incentivise members, usually lapsed ones.  They are sent out by targeted emails or by leaflets included with new membership cards.  However, anyone can register for these codes.

Here are the new 2014 codes we know about:

1039 – Receive Gold status after one stay (aimed for Hewlett Packard employees but …..)

7667 and 4040 – New Stay Bonus (1,500 points on your next stay)

4047 and 3007 – Elite Member Next Stay Bonus (5,000 points on your next stay, Gold or Platinum member only)

6636 and 8000 – Anniversary Bonus (1,000 points per stay for 60 days, may be the same offer)

2656 and 8994 – Welcome Back Bonus (3,000 points on your next stay, may be the same offer)

3050 and 8834 – Elite Member Next Stay Bonus (3,000 points on your next stay, Gold or Platinum member only)

9944 – New Member Bonus (3,000 points on your next stay)

9990 – 2000 Bonus Points Per Stay for 60 Days

8647 – 1000 Bonus Points Per Stay for 90 Days

6796 and 8645 – Weekend Stay Bonus (usually requires a US account address, posts a few weeks after your stay)

3006 and 3007 – Elite Member Winback Bonus (3,000 points on your next stay, Gold or Platinum member only, may be the same offer)

6783 and 8317 – Platinum Bonus (seems to post when your Platinum status renews)

5000 – 1000 points on your next stay within 60 days

You can add these codes to your IHG Rewards Club account at this page.  You may not be able to register for all of them because some may represent the same promotion, just with a variety of different sign-up codes.

You should also look at my last article of IHG Rewards Club codes.  Some of these may also still be working in 2014.

Because all of the codes have a limited 60-90 day life, do NOT sign up until you have a paid IHG stay coming up.

If you are working towards ‘The Big Win 2’, these codes may make the promotion more lucrative than it would otherwise have been, as each individual stay will now generate a decent bonus.

The ‘My Offers’ page of the IHG Rewards Club website has been broken since the New Year, so unfortunately you will not be able to see what offers have definitely been activated on your account.

IHG One Rewards update – April 2024:

  • Toddy says:

    Thanks Raffles.

Quick question: does the code need to be input prior to the BOOKING, or the actual STAY?

    • John says:

If you input before the points post, which can be a few days AFTER the stay, they should still work

      • Rob says:

Someone I know inputted the codes last week after check-out but before posting and he didn’t get the points. (Which is, to be honest, not what I expected.)

        Before check-out is definitely OK.

    • Rob says:

Latest case study (see other comment) is before check-out.

  • John says:

Lots of reports of accounts getting closed randomly, so use at your own risk and NEVER complain even if you don’t get something you’re entitled to, as that may lead to an account audit.

    • Rob says:

I wouldn’t say ‘lots’ … a couple, out of literally a few thousand people via Flyertalk etc who put these through. What I do know (from personal experience a few years ago) is that if you have duplicate accounts in your own name then they WILL find them and close them. They appear to track IP addresses and the credit cards used for payment, not just the obvious name and address fields.

      • james67 says:

Has me a little alarmed as I persuaded my father (diehard Hilton customer) to join IHG for the big win and stackable promos. We share same first and family name but obviously different adress so I was sure everything was fine. <istake I have made is to have him book a stay on my gold card to help me reach spend target so if auditted both accounts probably in trouble.

        • Rob says:

The risk is slim, I think. After all, you could have been travelling together with you paying. Bigger issue is that he will have to show your card at check-in if you pre-paid, so make sure he takes it.

          • James67 says:

Thanks, and for the reminder about the card too.

          • Will says:

It’s weird. I did loads of pre paid IHG stays for big win 2013 and was never once asked for the card I paid with

          • Rob says:

CP City didn’t ask either. HIX Croydon wanted it, the HIX I used in Madrid 100% insisted on it.

    • Jenni says:

This is my concern as well, after reading reports on FT about accounts getting closed ‘due to breach of T&C’s’. I don’t know if its safe to use these. I might let the dust settle a while anyway, my next paid stays with IHG aren’t until mid-March, I’ve only got Hilton stays in the winter. Incidentally, any news of a new promo for them, the current one ends the end of Jan?

    • James67 says:

This is annoying. Surely IHG are responsible for ensuring their codes work properly. How hard can it be to ensure targetted codes only work on targetted accounts or that only new accounts get bonus for new members?

    • Bart Lapers says:

About the fact we are not targeted for these codes: Check this interview with Don Berg, Vice President InterContinental Hotels Group Loyalty Programs http://boardingarea.com/loyaltytraveler/2013/11/13/smart-travelers-game-ihg-and-ihg-seeks-smart-travelers/

      • CV says:

The nugget amongst all the other good info was Last Minute Reward Nights deals (and needed a Google search to the find offer page on IHG website), didn’t know this existed, will hopefully get to test this out soon on an existing booking for the first weekend in February.

      • John says:

Good luck telling a low-paid IHG customer service agent that your account should be reinstated because of an interview with their CEO!

      • Andrew (@andrewseftel) says:

That guy also said there would be free worldwide internet in 2014. Clearly things can change.

  • DANIEL says:

    Before the stay…

  • Tom says:

‘My Offers’ page working fine for me?
It has removed all the used/inactive 2013 codes and just left me with the BW 2014 and one that was still eligible from last year.

    • Rob says:

No, it was playing up. I had codes still within their 60-90 period which disappeared, although reports elsewhere suggest they will still post.

  • James67 says:

Thanks for tabulating all of these in one post. Next week I have some stays from the £25etc sale which are nonqualifying for big win 2 and presumably base points. Any chance these stays may trigger these special promotions? If not I will hold off registering for a while yet.

    • Alan says:

Mine posted as non-qualifying and I didn’t receive any bonus points. I remember from last year some folk had managed to receive credit for deeply discounted rates, but it’s more likely miss than hit.

      • Tom says:

Yes, my stay on the £20.12 rate last year posted as qualifying. And I picked up all the stacked bonus points too. IHG paid me to stay 🙂

    • Rob says:

Very unlikely – last year some £20.12 rates did post as qualifying, although mine didn’t. No similar reports this year.

      • Ben E says:

any chance, do you think, of £20.13 rates coming up?

        • Rob says:

They did it again – I am currently sitting in my office in the Crowne Plaza The City on a £45 rate, which got me lounge access and all the wine I can drink in the evening! It was £25 / £35 / £45 depending on brand. The deal was here – https://headforpoints.com/2013/11/25/amazing-ihg-flash-sale-now-on-25-e25-hi-express-35-e35-holiday-inn-etc/

          • james67 says:

Thanks for responses. I will register this week and see how it goes. Should not be any risk as there is 90% chance I will have a qualifying stay within 60 days anyway. My sole 20.12 reservation last year posted but IHG still won out as I was forced to cancel a 3 night stay on same rate. In truth I think there are few half-baked promos like the odd Tesco onces we can capitalise on; for the most part I think the major hotel chains and airtlines know exactly what they are doing and probably work out their risks very well.

          • phil says:

I was there on the same deal on the Monday before Christmas…great hotel isn’t it…especially at £45! Didn’t get the free wine deal though…that wasn’t part of this deal was it?

          • Rob says:

I was upgraded to the club floor as I am a Platinum member (normal policy here when not busy). The booze comes out 6-8 along with some bread and cheese. I also had breakfast in the lounge today, bacon and scrambled eggs! No lunch in the lounge, though.

          • Trevor says:

I, sadly, had a similar but opposite trip recently. Got a CP upgrade to Club wing and lounge for a mattress run, then had to walk away to stay at HI nearby with family – the CP didn’t have a family room. We did all return for brekkie in the lounge though.

    • Chris says:

I did a couple of stays on the 25/35/45 sale one posted as non qualifying one posted points and counted towards big win. No rhyme or reason it seems, but you may get lucky

  • Rda says:

I used these codes in Manchester last week and got nearly 17,000 points

  • Chris says:

Most of the promotions worked for me. Got about 15k bonus points. They initially didn’t show up on my offers, but as of the last few days they are now showing.

  • olybeast says:

    Thanks raffles!
