Get up to 1,050 Avios per night with Melia Hotels

The Melia hotel group has launched an aggressive promotion with Iberia Plus which could earn you a lot of Avios in the coming weeks, especially if you are travelling to Madrid.

Until 30th April, you earn TRIPLE Avios at airport hotels in Madrid and DOUBLE Avios at Melia hotels in Madrid, London, Rome and Vienna.

This is a great deal for longer stays, because Melia awards you by the night:

Gran Melia / Me / Paradius – 525 Avios per night (now 1,050 per night)

Melia / INNSiDE – 225 Avios per night (now 450 per night)

Tryp by Wyndham – 225 Avios per night (now 450 per night)

Sol – 150 Avios per night (now 300 per night)

Remember that you MUST credit the stay to Iberia Plus, not British Airways Executive Club.  If you don’t have an Iberia Plus account, you can open one for free.

You can then transfer your Avios across to BA or avios.com via ‘Combine My Avios’ online, although you need to wait until your Iberia account has been open for 90 days.

If you are travelling to London, you should take a look at the Melia White House (photo above, although it is prettier than the photo implies – it is a 1930’s Poirot-style block) which is very close to Regents Park and about 30 seconds from Great Portland Street underground.

I met someone there for a drink this week and was impressed by how pleasant it was.  As a Melia-branded hotel, you would earn 450 Avios per night until the end of April.
