It’s back – £10 of free London taxi credit with GetTaxi

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

Last month I published a £10 sign-up code for new downloaders of London taxi app GetTaxi.  That offer closed pretty quickly.

GetTaxi has now launched a referral programme.  This allows me to be able to launch a permanent offer for Head for Points readers.

The referral scheme currently offering a £10 free credit for new members so – if you are in London or heading there at some point soon – you have nothing to lose by downloading their iOS or Android app.  I also receive £10 of credit for referring you.

One advantage of GetTaxi over Hailo is that there is NO minimum fare (apart from 10am-5pm weekdays, Hailo has a minimum) and NO cancellation fees.

This can be an issue with Hailo as you may want to cancel a job when, after claiming your nearest cab is 3 minutes away, your job is actually picked up by a driver 15 minutes away. (You do get a one minute window with Hailo in which to cancel after the job is accepted before the fee kicks in.) GetTaxi also allows you to book a taxi in advance.

To claim your £10 free credit, download the app and (once you have verified your mobile phone number) click on the ‘Coupon Code’ box on the menu.  (A quick way of downloading the app if you are reading this on your phone is to click here and then click on the appropriate Android or iOS button.)

In the ‘Coupon Code’ box – which is on the personal details menu – enter code GTSZFWS.  £10 of credit will be dropped into your account.

One quick warning. After you’ve signed up, GetTaxi will email or text you a £5 coupon code. Do not input this into the app, as it will invalidate the £10 code if you haven’t already used it. If you have already used the £10 code, the £5 code will not work anyway.

Thanks for that. I’ve just downloaded the app and got my £10 credit which expires in May 2214 🙂

There’s another tenner for you Robert!

Thanks! Given my weekly taxi bill this is actually more useful than more Avios!

Coupon code didn’t, it said it’s invalid.

    • Rob says:

Odd, definitely ok as I have had some referrals come in. Will take a look.

OT I was billed to my Amex last week when using Uber whilst having both active promotions and statement credit sitting on my account. I queried this and Amex issued an account credit to the amount incorrectly billed despite my asking for a refund; can I ask Amex for a chargeback? (I have enough Uber statement credit for all I use it and would rather the £40)

Isn’t it possible to set the Uber app to bill a ride to your card instead of using available credit? You might want to check that you haven’t accidentally changed the settings.

It was definitely set to use credit, or in this case even the active promotions would have been used first. Uber acknowledged this and said there was a problem on my account although there refund has been in the form on statement credit. I’d have never spent £40 cash money on a fare so wondering if it’s a case for a chargeback.
