Can’t use the Avios Flight Finder app? HfP reader Tim creates a web version

Links on Head for Points may support the site by paying a commission.  See here for all partner links.

I wrote last week about the new Avios Flight Finder app.  This is an iPhone / iPad app which can show you, impressively quickly, reward flight availability on British Airways flights.

This app is not available for Android, nor is it available to non-UK iOS users.  It also isn’t usable by anyone who doesn’t have a smart phone.

Until now.

EDIT, March 2022: If you found this article via Google, hello!  Since we published it, ‘BA Redemption Finder’ has become ‘Reward Flight Finder’ – the links below still work.  We now recommend that you look at SeatSpy – see this HfP article – which is more comprehensive and usually more accurate in its BA data.

Head for Points reader Tim has developed a simple website which accesses the same database used for the Avios Flight Finder app.

You can find it by clicking here.

Amazingly, this bit of software is even quicker than the Avios Flight Finder app – because it immediately shows you full availability for the next 355 days!

Like the Avios Flight Finder it cannot handle connections.  It also does not show oneworld partner airlines.

The main use of this site should therefore be to check availability when you want to use an Amex 2-4-1 voucher – if you are not using a 2-4-1 voucher you should use ba.com instead as it will show you Qatar, Finnair, Royal Jordanian, airberlin, American, US Airways etc etc as well.

Remember that avios.com has better European economy reward availability than ba.com.  For Club Europe, World Traveller, World Traveller Plus, Club World and First it should match what is available on ba.com.  Sometimes avios.com does not fully match ba.com but no-one has ever worked out why ….

  • Oly says:

    wow very quick indeed!

  • Alan says:

Great work Tim! For some reason MCO gives “the server responded with an error”, but other destinations seem OK?

Thoroughly depressing on the actual availability front though!

    • Planet says:

      put ORL

it said on the page to put city code instead of airport code

      • Alan says:

Thanks – for a lot of the others I tried the two seemed to be the same. I hadn’t realised Orlando had that executive airport too!

      • Tim Rogers says:

Tim here, creator of the tool. Having to do that is a bit of a pain to be honest – following this pattern, the app on iOS makes you choose a city rather than an airport. I might add a list at some point.

  • squills says:

    Great stuff, Tim.

Works a treat on ‘our’ European route 😉

  • Jon Connell says:

Oh, noes! Now the unwashed masses will find it even easier to take *my* seats. You do all know that, don’t you? They’re *my* seats, not yours?

  • Grant says:

Does it only find availability for one seat at a time?

  • jeffrey silvers says:

Hmmm…..”The server responded with an error.”

  • Roger says:

Brilliant, quite brilliant! And so fast! Thanks, Tim, and to Rob too for disseminating.

I can relax now 🙁 knowing that our Avios are effectively unredeemable as 2-4-1s to places we want to go. At least there may be 2-4-2 opportunities on other airlines.

  • uk1 says:

    Thanks Tim and Rob,

This will save me hours and I found a viable trip I hadn’t seen before and booked it LHR>SIN>LHR x 2 in F using my 241. The only problem is that it makes it too easy for my competitors in future …. 🙂

This is by far the most useful travel “app” I have ever seen. Thanks again.
