  I’m not sure why anyone would chose double your points, over 1000 bonus points? The break even is £500 a night if diamond isn’t it? Not sure the majority of people will be paying £500 a night.

    Not quite base points are 10 per $1 spent at the hotel. Therefore to get 1,000 bonus points on the double promotion you need to only spend $100 or about £65 which can include food etc spend. Also it allows you to get points on Tuesday and Wednesday night stays. So the 1,000 point a night option is only better for you if you are making cheap/award stays at the weekend (of which I happen to be making a few and I could be tempted in to a matress run to Corby to make it to diamond)

      So…
      Double Points
      Say the room was $100 (£65) = 100 x 10 = 1,000 with Double Points = 2,000

      Bonus 1,000 Points
      Say the room was $100 (£65) = 100 x 10 = 1,000 with Bonus 1,000 Points = 2,000

      Therefore my understanding, if your nights are generally over $100 (£65) you would be better with double points, and also I guess the Double points are winning as all week/weekend days are included not just Thur-Mon on the 1,000 Bonus.

    Nooooo! 😉 The breakeven is $100 (you earn 10 base points per dollar), although obviously if you’ll only have two stays in the promo it would be $200. I’d imagine most folk are paying more than £60 (excl VAT) a night and have more than one stay in a quarter so would do better on double points.

  I went for the 1k points as I seem to earn next to nothing with most stays and generally don’t spend £££ on food whilst at a hotel.
  Typically, I have a load of Hilton stays the week before but hopefully the double / triple points promo should make up for that.

  The weekend 1k may post on reward stays as long as you charge something to the room, which may swing it for some people.

    It is not impossible, in an attempt to soften up the audience. After all, the two promotions appeal to different people – double points is better for business travellers, 1000 points better for weekend travellers and those on redemptions.
