Uber £15 free credit still available, and it adds 6- and 8-seaters vehicles

  And how long is it valid for? Do you have to take your first Uber ride within a certain time frame if you sign up today?

    It’s valid indefinitely. They may (again) do a sign up offer worth more than £10 though so might be better to wait if you’ve got no immediate use for the credit.

    Hmm, I hadn’t realised that. I’ve got a Manchester credit but didn’t know I could use it elsewhere in the UK.

  I’ve ordered UberX’s several times since the XL was introduced, and I’ve never had the XL, so I don’t know how well that is going to work in reality.

    The reason why UberXL drivers can take UberX fares, is that at the moment there isn’t enough UberXL fares to keep those drivers busy, and it’s better they take UberX fares, to keep earning, rather than sitting around, earning nothing.

    If you specifically want an UberXL, then request an UberXL! It will probably take longer, than an UberX, while they’re are signing up more drivers with cars that meet UberXL requirements.

    However, if you’re in a group of 5 or 6, or with large amounts of luggage, then request a UberX, in the hope an UberXL will turn up (and pay the UberX rate), then please don’t, as it wastes everyone’s time if an UberX does turn up. It’s happening in the US, a lot, which driver’s are unhappy about. If an UberXL does turn up, and your party of 5/6 or excess luggage gets in, the driver will simply e-mail Uber for a fare review, and you’ll still be charged the correct UberXL rate.

  I believe the credit may transfer to other countries. I signed up my other half using a £10 referral code whilst we were in the US and she was credited with $30 instead of £10 of credit!

  Not sure if that was because she was in the US when signing up / entering the code and what not, or just because they translate the credit into other country/currency where you use it.

  You also don’t have to use it all in one go, so if your trip is only £8, you’ll keep the £2 of credit remaining on file for a further trip.

    It’s because you were in the US. I used the app in the US with UK credit and it was charged directly to my credit card (though they kindly refunded me AND let me keep the credit when I sent them an email asking why the credit didn’t work).

  Seems to be only showing $10 off first ride when I tried that code on their website.
