Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Head for Points is now on Instagram

I’m pleased to say that Head for Points has now launched on the photo sharing app Instagram.

You can find our Instagram page by clicking here or searching for ‘headforpoints’.  The icon has also been added to our social media links in the right hand margin.  If you use Instagram, please consider following us.

I have kept away from image-driven social media sites in the past.  However, the sheer number of airline, hotel and airport lounge reviews that I wrote over the Summer meant that I finally had a critical mass of photographs so I decided to make the move.

Instgram

There are over 400 images on the Instagram page at the moment.  95% of those have previously appeared on Head for Points.  Going forward, I hope to post more original content there.  This will include shots which don’t make the final cut to appear on the site, hotel stays and flights which I decide not to review in full and interesting images that I see on my travels.

Here is a quick reminder of the other ways you can follow Head for Points each day:

Excellent idea Rob – thanks for extending the reach of HfP.Whose idea was this out of interest?

    • Rob says:

I started thinking about it at the frequent flyer blogging conference in Las Vegas in September in a discussion on Pinterest (which I am still avoiding!). I then noticed that a couple of the biggest US sites had adopted it – and had not adopted Pinterest – so I decided to follow their lead. To be honest, the HFP crowd is more LinkedIn than Instagram but the other side of the coin is that Instagram gets me to a new audience.

Thanks Rob – all makes sense to me. Am not sure about Pinterest myself, what are your reservations based on?

        • Rob says:

That none of the big US equivalents of HFP are using it and I assume that one of them would have given it a go if they thought it would be useful.

The one guy I met in Vegas who was using Pinterest hugely successfully (it was the biggest referrer of traffic to his blog) was an outlier. He had 10,000 good quality travel pics which he had (paid someone to) upload to Pinterest.

So do we tag you in any photos involving an Avios flight…? 😉
