Maximise your Avios, air miles and hotel points

Tesco deals – even more giftcard points, 2880 Avios on wine, 360 Avios on DVDs

Tesco has launched a number of generous Clubcard promotions.  All of these will give you bonus Clubcard points which can be converted into Avios points or Virgin Flying Club miles.

Deal 1:  100 Clubcard points on a £20 gift card purchase

Page 120 of the new Tesco magazine (the Christmas edition) contains a coupon for 100 bonus Clubcard points when you spend £20 on any gift card (Tesco giftcards excluded).

This will work on top of the standard promotion of 150 Clubcard points for spending £50 on gift cards.

250 Clubcard points (600 Avios) is an excellent deal for buying £50 of gift cards.  You may even get 350 points for a £50 purchase if you can persuade the cashier to scan two coupons.  If you are a regular visitor to Pizza Express, New Look, Debenhams or the many other retailers whose gift cards are sold by Tesco, it would make sense to stock up.

Deal 2:  1200 Clubcard points for £120 wine spend or 500 points for six bottle purchase

These codes offer a great return if you are stocking up for Christmas drinking with a visit to the Tesco online wine store.

Code XXPL7G gets you 1,200 points (2,880 Avios) for a £120 spend.  This code will NOT work for everyone.

Codes are XX4MJH and XXLLG4 offer 500 bonus points when used for a six bottle purchase.  This code came with the Tesco Wine magazine so may be easier to redeem.

The £120 code should work on the price before any discounts – such as the current ‘25% off 12 bottles’ deal – are taken off so your actual spend needed may be lower.

Deal 3:  150 bonus points when you pre-order a DVD

Over at Tesco Direct, the following DVDs are available to pre-order.  You will receive 150 Clubcard points (360 Avios, 375 Virgin miles) with each one.  This offer should double up with any bonus points DVD coupon you may have received in the post recently.

Prices start at £10.

Seven titles are shown via this link (expire 23 November)

Three more titles are here including Inbetweeners 2 (expires 30 November)

Two more are here including the latest Expendables (expires 7 December)

And finally Into The Storm is here (expires 14 December)

There are also five Blu-Ray disks offering 200 bonus points (480 Avios) which you can find here.

I also received in the post and used the wine code XXFXTT, 1200 cc points for £120 spend (that’s prior to any 25% discount..ie my net spend was less than this).
Re the 100 CC points per £20 voucher…two huge piles beyond the checkouts at the Chichester store last night. I get 3V cards every month, therefore couldn’t miss this opportunity. 4 £25 gift cards per transaction is the sweet spot. Anything more and sometimes the tills start to get confused with the verification codes etc. My wife and I put through 16x£25 between us last night..Just two trips with both of us collecting 4 gift cards each time. They were happy to put through the 4 vouchers per transaction so a great bonus. Total of 700 CC points per 4 cards…so 2800 CC total, 6720 avios+ further 600 (Ba plat+)=Total of 7320 Avios earned for half an hours work. Not to mention the £5 per £40 discount vouchers and the top up to your petrol savings that the spend generates. We carried out a further 20 magazines from the store, the vouchers don’t expire until the end of the year. Chris.

      Nice one.

Now give me your feedback on Plat.

Do you think it is worth it?

      • CC says:

Plat is a must have, the £140 annual cost is nothing in comparison to what is definitely the biggest credit card perk out there – the 2:1 Companion Voucher – which is after £10k spend, rather than double the spend requirement for the lower BA card. We pretty much use it as our current account, clearing it down each month (minus a few smaller outlets that don’t accept Amex)…..definitely works a treat for petrol purchases – combine the platinum card(for the purchase) of 1.5 avios per £, with the tesco credit card (to act as your clubcard to earn 1 point per £) at the tescos forecourts and it’s the best way to accumulate avios via petrol too. In other words – if you’re like me, who I see as a medium collector who accumulates around 150-250k avios per year through flights, spend & bonuses like these, then the BA Plat card is a must have for that voucher!

Will photocopies of the page work ? Sure it says copies not valid? Cant find magazines in newcastle!

  • Fenny says:

Just ordered a pile of DVDs for the family for Christmas, plus Take That CD for me 🙂 Will be ordering my Christmas port shortly and have a £25 voucher to offset against the total. All in all, I’m looking at somewhere over 2000 CC points for a bit of Christmas shopping.

  • squills says:

tesco are running a 25% off wine offer when you buy 4 or more. They’re also running a 4 for the price of 3 on the mini bottles of wine and fizz, so when you buy 4 bottles you only pay for 2. I’ve had this work online and in store.

    • Grimz says:
