      Why’s that? I’ve stayed half a dozen times and rather like it..

      Just don’t park on the road outside. I got a ticket at 2am.

  Ah excellent. Last time round I booked a number of Heathrow Double Tree rooms for £40 and got the $25 room credit ontop after always finding it cheaper on Hotels.com

    Rome is meant to be good. Waldorf Berlin? Hilton Venice (nicer than it sounds)?

    As always, take a look at the size of the standard rooms. Lots of classic hotels have very small base level rooms. That said, Waldorf Berlin is brand new so should be OK.

    May also be worth looking at relative pricing. Berlin is generally very cheap so, whilst the W-A is excellent, you could stay somewhere 80% as good for under £100. Conrad London on a busy night where you had to be in London would be better £ value.

    Rome is up a hill, out on its own, which means you are effectively obliged to eat in the hotel at potentially outrageous pricing.

    To chime in here, the Cavalieri Rome is fantastic IF you book an imperial room. The lounge is a masterpiece and the view is remarkable. It’s very poor value in a non imperial room. Gold/Diamond’s seem to get nice upgrades (well I have twice, once as a gold and once as a diamond). You will not be bumped to an impeial room from a standard though regardless of status.

  Water coming through the criling into my bag, moved to a different room that was smaller than some hotel bathrooms I’ve seen, not to mention it had a broken window and it was bloeing a gale, staff who were clueless about telephone and internet charges, a manager who was aloof, unfriendly and was totally lacking in a public srvice ethic…all that before I even mention thr club wing but hopefully that has been upgraded in last few years since i had the misfortune to stay there.
