Win a five-star weekend break at The Langham, London hotel

Today I am launching a fantastic hotel competition in association with The Langham, London. You can win a 2-night weekend break for two people, with breakfast.

You may remember that I reviewed The Langham back in May and was impressed.

The Langham, London was the first ‘grand hotel’ in Europe, opening in 1865. It will be celebrating its 150th anniversary next year and you could be checking in.

Following an £80 million refurbishment, the façade of this historic Victorian building contains a modern five-star luxury property with an excellent Roux-run restaurant, award winning bar and an impressive spa and pool. You are just 90 seconds from Oxford Street and a short walk from Bond Street and the boutique shops of Marylebone High Street.

All Langham hotels offer a special deal to British Airways Executive Club Gold members. Show your BA Gold card at check-in and you will be immediately enrolled in their ‘1865’ loyalty programme at ‘Voyager’ level. This would usually require five stays and gives you the following benefits:

6pm check-out subject to availability – very handy for evening flights

a one category room upgrade subject to availability

free fruit and water

your choice of personalised welcome amenity

free internet

500 Avios points per NIGHT (maximum 3 nights)

Langham Spa

If you are still looking for a Christmas gift, The Langham offers a fantastic range of gift vouchers covering every part of the hotel. You can choose from a range of vouchers for:

meals in the ‘Roux at The Landau’ restaurant

cocktails in ‘The Artesian’ bar – winner of the Drinks International ‘World’s Best Bar’ award

spa treatments

afternoon tea

overnight stays

Gift vouchers are available via this site.

What can you win?

We are giving away a gift voucher for a two-night weekend stay for one or two people in a Grand Room.

Breakfast and Wi-Fi are included and the voucher is valid for 12 months. You can pass on the voucher to a friend or family member if you wish.

The standard price of a gift voucher stay is £360 per night, so your prize is worth £720! In reality, the typical cost of a two-night weekend stay with breakfast at The Langham, London can be over £1,000.

Even if you live in London, it is well worth entering – a weekend at The Langham is probably more fun than staying at home, especially if you don’t have your own swimming pool!

How to enter

With this competition, I am using a new entry system. This allows me some added flexibility and gives you additional chances to win.

You can have up to three entries in the competition:

You receive one entry automatically when you complete your email address (this remains private and will NOT be used by Head for Points for any other purpose)

You receive an additional entry if you tweet a link to the competition (please use the ‘link your account’ option to ensure it tracks properly)

You receive an additional entry if you join The Langham, London email list. You can unsubscribe at any point by clicking on the ‘unsubscribe’ link in every newsletter they send.

The rules

You can see the detailed rules by clicking on ‘Terms and Conditions’ in the entry widget. In summary:

You must be 18 years old

You must be a resident of the European Union, Norway or Switzerland

Entries are limited to one submission form – which may get you up to three entries in the draw – per household

The competition closes at midnight, London time, on Friday 5th December

If you cannot see the entry widget below, please click here and you will be directed to a special website to enter.

Good luck. The winner will be announced on Head for Points early next week.

  • Hugh says:

Erm, the rules say entry limited to 1 per household – but above it says you can have upto 3 entries to the comp

    • Head for Points says:

The terms and conditions do say that an ‘entry’ in that sense means ‘the submission of up to 3 entries via the form’.

    • KageyWorld says:

Good morming Hugh. If you read what is written: One entry per household. Each household can have three ways to win – one by listing your email to be able to be contacted, one if you tweet about the contest, and a third if you join the hotel mailing list. When you click on the widget to enter, all will be made clear…

  • Alastair says:

On holiday in Thailand, can’t enter?

    • Head for Points says:

Yes, it is geoblocked. Sorry about that but it is an important control mechanism. You have until Friday to get back into the EU!

      • James67 says:

Same here, what a disappointment 🙁

      • Andrew S says:

Oh dear – all of our office internet is routed through Ireland… what a pain.

        • Andrew S says:

Are you sure you want to block Ireland IP`s?

          • Anonymous says:

I hate geoblocks. Means I have to click on my VPN button. “Important control mechanism” – uhum…

All because my employer’s VPN comes out in Ireland. So I need to VPN over the VPN in order to be back in the UK.

As I said – I hate geoblocks. They “break” the internet.

          • Andrew S says:

Raffles – which geolocation company does this thing use?

          • Rob says:

            Ireland is not blocked!

          • Andrew S says:

            It is 🙂

      • Alastair says:

Too bad back Saturday. I can endorse your comments on Langham.

    • JQ says:

      Use a VPN or something.

  • Alex says:

The widget seems to use geoblocking which means those of us on the road (but otherwise live in the UK) can’t enter – that doesn’t seem very fair. Must say I infinitely preferred your old system.

  • Thomas says:

Apparently “this promotion is not available in my region”…

I am a UK resident currently on holiday in HK… 🙁

  • Dave Stringer says:

    Enter!

  • DANIEL says:

Hmmmmmmmmm.. not so keen on this way to enter.. in fact I haven’t. Just my 2cents worth

    • Rob says:

This system has two benefits. Firstly, the Twitter function allows me to reach potential new readers for the site. Competitions require a lot of admin time to organise and I am keen to use them to drive new readers.

Secondly, as prizes get more valuable, it is not unreasonable that the sponsor tries to pick up some more names for their own mailing list. That cannot be done using the ‘enter by comment’ system.

It is still an experiment, though.

That said, the competition that should run next week will work ‘the old way’ – but you will still have to do ‘something else’ to validate your entry.

      • Xander says:

Don’t object to the tweeting or email lists offering an extra chance to win. But not allowing those of us frequently on travel outside the UK from entering because of the software is a little irritating. Your site your rules (and it may be you do get more traffic as a result) but it would be nice if the geoblock could be removed in favour of the postcode system you had before!

        • Raffles says:

It is possible that I could merge the two models – keep using this form but remove the geoblock and have a field where people could input their postcode like before.

Let’s see. It is not an issue for the competition I hope to run next week as that will use the old system but there is a potential January one where I know I will need to offer a newsletter sign-up option.

  • Khozema says:

    6SS

  • Jaimie says:

Despite tweeting (and trying again only to be told I have already tweeted) it still shows as having only entered using 2 out of 3 of the possible methods
