Born on 25th December? Have a free hotel stay

Hotels4U, which is part of Thomas Cook, is giving away £5,000 of hotel nights to people born on Christmas Day.

It is enough to make up for all of those combined ‘birthday and Christmas’ cards and presents you’ve had over the years ….

You can find details at Family Travel Times here.

Whilst it is scheduled to run until 31st January, this offer is very unlikely to last that long as £5,000 doesn’t get you far these days.

After you have called them up to stake your claim, you need to book and prepay a hotel stay.  Once you have emailed a copy of your driving licence or passport over to Hotels4U to verify your eligibility they will refund your money, or the cost of one night if you booked a longer stay.

So tempted to book a stay in the name of Mr J Christ!

Slightly better offer than one place I worked that on their 100th year of business offered those who were also 100 that year a free pair of spectacles if them came in and had an eye test. Considering the usual health level of 100yr olds and how often they go out, generous is not the word……

Well – I am lucky enough to be born on Christmas Day and just phoned up the number they ask you to call. The first person who answered had no idea about the promotion and said they would put me through to someone who did. They just put me back in the call queue. The second person I called knew about the promotion but said there was no way to tell in advance whether they had used up the £5k pot – so you book and risk it. Not much of a promotion then…..

I’ve seen this kind of thing a few times in Japan. A specific store will offer freebies to customer who share the same birthday as the store’s opening….I always find it curious though as it presumably only attracts the same customers each year and disappoints the remaining majority each each year too!

Anyone know any French companies who do deals for those of us born on Bastille Day?
