News in brief:

Qatar Airways 2-4-1 sale means more business class tickets under £800

I won’t write about this in huge detail because I have covered the recent Qatar Airways ‘£800 tickets to Asia’ a couple of times recently, for example here.

Until this Wednesday, similar prices are back – albeit dressed up as a 2-4-1.  You will need to book two seats to get prices as low as £800 per person in business class.

Travel dates are between 1 June and 10 December although there is no guarantee that seats will be available every day at these prices.

Do NOT look for these prices out of the UKHere are the UK deals – they are good but not outstanding.  Prices start at £2,920 for two people.

You want to be looking from flights out of Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Brussels and Oslo, with the best destinations being those in India and Asia.  Go to the Qatar Airways home page here and plug in some dates and destinations.

Copenhagen to Bangkok, for example, is DKr 17,316 for two people which is just £832 each.

Remember that you will earn Avios and British Airways tier points on Qatar tickets.  A business class return to, say, Bangkok would earn you (4 x 140) 560 tier points.  The Boeing 787 business class cabin is below and the A380 and A350 versions are similar.  My review of Qatar’s B787 business class is here and the older B777 product here.

500 points for joining Le Club Accorhotels

Until 31st May, Le Club Accorhotels – the loyalty programme for Novotel, Ibis, Sofitel, Mercure, M Gallery etc – is offering 500 points to anyone who joins and completes a stay.

Most HFP readers will already be members, admittedly.  However, if you have never joined and can slot in a stay over the next month then the extra 500 points are worth having.  They would be worth €10 of hotel credit, although you need 2000 points minimum to redeem for €40 of credit.

The link to sign up is here.

Best Western UK spring sale

Finally, Best Western sent me an email promoting their new UK sale.  32 hotels are included across the country with rooms from £45.  You can find details of participating hotels here.

Details of how to get a free status match to Best Western Rewards can be found here.

Off Topic: there are 13 new stickers in avios suitcase, mostly apple store check-ins at various locations. 120 avios each so an easy 1560 avios in total.

    • Peter says:

I saw this but could not work out how to ‘check in’ to parts of the apple page. Also is it the apple facebook page or main website page? Any advice is welcome 🙂

      • Liz says:

I couldn’t do this either the other night – think you need ios8.2 or something which I don’t have on my iphone – will wait for my daughter to come home from Uni to help me with that one! I managed to get 2 stickers so far!

        • Liz says:

There were only 4 new ones all relating to the Apple Watch

        • Palcsaky says:

I first did the tasks related to avios apple watch app (posting on Twitter, Instagram etc) then there was an option to check into Covent Garden Apple Store and once I did that another 9 stores became available for check in. I have the latest iOS on my iphone, location services disabled for Facebook app, I manually searched the required stores and when the search found multiple Apple stores at the same location I checked into all of them as it wasn’t clear which one is the official one.

          • Liz says:

I checked in at the Apple store in Covent garden the other night but it wouldn’t give me the sticker! Will try again and will hopefully get the other ones to open up!

    • Rob says:

Thanks. Have something on this lined up for later in the week, although I don’t have 13!

Sign up to Amex offers here https://network.americanexpress.com/connect/uk/en/default.html

    incl £10 off £50 Shell

    • Andy says:

Should these offers work with my BMI MBNA Amex card? I’ve never had any luck with them so I often don’t bother.

      • Rob says:

Some do, check the rules. Takes ages for cash to arrive though.

      • Kai says:

My MBNA cards (Lufthansa & Virgin) always get the statement credit very quickly (1 day after the transaction posts).

      • guesswho2000 says:

Apparently, they only work with non-Amex issued Amex cards, according to their T&Cs. Registered my AA and Barclaycard Amex card fine, but it wouldn’t accept the Amex PRG.

        • Brian says:

Nothing in the T&Cs to that effect, as far as I can see. I had issues with my PRG and BA cards – it said the offer wasn’t saved, but when you got to your saved offers, they are there.

        • guesswho2000 says:

Ignore that, seems it only applies to the Amex Connect thing – the offers are showing when logged in to Amex.co.uk

        • Brian says:

Actually, I see now what you mean – you may not be able to register a PRG card on the site linked above, but if you go to your AMEX account, you should be able to register it there.

          • Jude says:

Amex Connect – can I register a supplementary card or only the primary card? I do most of the shopping but our Amex Gold is in my OH name so all the offers will only load onto his card on the normal Amex.co.uk website

          • Polly says:

No, you would have to take his actual card with you if you are using any of these offers. Usually only the primary card that gets them. We are always swopping cards, my OH never knows what card he’s supposed to be using!

          • Rob says:

Usually only primary but sometimes rules change and you can double up.

          • pogo says:

There’s a lot of duff info here.

MBNA BMI cards are fine but supplementary cards tend to use the same number so they only count once.

Amex cards such as Gold use different numbers so you can get offers more than once.

The cash usually posts within 24 hrs.

          • Rob says:

The Foursquare deals work with supplementary cards (on Amex Amex’s). I wasn’t sure that was the case with other deals such as these?

    • jason says:

I’ve managed to save 3 primary cards – 2 BA amex, 1 PRG,
plus a primary and supplementary at Lloyds amex.
which will all be going via amazon gift cards, through the amazon affiliate link on here 🙂

Booked AMSTERDAM::DEL return in business class with Qatar for £1130 in last 3 weeks of Dec giving me 360TP and all legs in 787 style too 🙂 Then made an Avios redemption for LHR:AMS for 8500 plus 35 tax and since it was off peak on one leg from today it’s half the avios I would have used yesterday. Thanks Raffles!
