News in brief:

Slowest mileage credit ever?

I thought I had it bad when Apple took almost a year to credit some Gate 365 e-store Avios points from an iPhone purchase.  But no.

Reader Roger sent me an email from Flying Blue, the Air France / KLM frequent flyer scheme, which notified him of a credit of 700 miles to his account.  This came from market research group eRewards.  They were for an online survey he took in 2011.

Hotels.com New York family competition

hotels.com is running a competition for anyone signing up to its newsletter to win a New York holiday.  What makes this different to most is that the prize is for the whole family (well, as long as your family consists of a maximum of 2 adults and 2 children).

Linked to the new ‘Night At The Museum’ film, the prize also includes a museum sleepover.  The flights are in economy but you can’t have it all!  You can enter here – the deadline is June 21st.

Air New Zealand Smaug

Air New Zealand ‘2 for 1’ in Business Class to LA

Air New Zealand flights from the UK to Auckland route via Los Angeles, and it is possible to buy tickets just to LA.  Until May 31st, the company is offering a 2-4-1 deal in business class.

It works out at £1,797 per person, return, which is not bad at all – noticeably lower than the current British Airways Club World sale.  Air New Zealand is in Star Alliance so you would earn miles in any of the Star programmes such as Lufthansa’s Miles & More.

You must travel between 1st September and 30th November.  Additional seats can be added for the same price of £1,797 each.  This fare is ONLY available via the Air New Zealand website – see this page for more details.

Addison Lee

Addison Lee launches ClubLee

Finally, if you are a regular user of London cab group Addison Lee, you may be interested in their new ClubLee loyalty scheme.

There are three elite levels – Silver, Gold and Black – and a basic White level.  Each level has exclusive discounts – at Silver level, for example, you receive 25% off all trips you take at weekends.

More details can be found here.

There is also a 20% discount code, SUMMER20, linked to the launch of ClubLee.  This seems to work for anyone – I did a test on a new account and it worked fine for a dummy trip from my house to Heathrow.

Just looked at the terms and conditions of the hotels.com New York competition. The children must be under 12 years old.

  • Pol says:

You could also credit the Air New Zealand flights to Virgin.

  • TJ says:

What exactly is Addison Lee? Are they normal mini cabs where you pay cash? Is there any advantage over uber?

  • Mark says:

When I took Air New Zealand to LA a couple of years ago, Stephen Hawking was on the same flight – which seems quite a good celebrity endorsement of their business class offering!

    • John says:

Found myself sitting next to Victoria Beckham on LHR-LAX last year. Lots of actors/musicians use it in preference to BA.

      • lucinda says:

She is prob still upset from when BA lost her luggage and didnt agree to her compensation demand of free 1st class travel for life…

OT: anybody received their travelex supercard yet? I got an email telling me I needed to register a debit or credit card. I had not done so as I figured I would do it after receiving the card. When I then tried to log in the app to add one it said account suspended please call cs. When I did thzt I was told nothing to worry about, just call back after receiving card. What have others been experiencing?

    • Leo says:

Exactly the same as you – those steps in that order.

    • Mark says:

Yes, I received a Supercard on Saturday. Unfortunately thet had already cancelled it before it even dropped through the letterbox.

It seems they managed to send out a few duplicates as a result of their IT not coping, and I was one of them. As a result they cancelled duplicate cards ‘picked at random’ where people managed to register more than once.

I only received one confirmation, however I am able to log in with the correct account number they gave me over the phone, so just waiting for the card now….
