No mention of Her Majesty’s Official Birthday I see.

I wouldn’t count receiving that centennial telegram, Raffles…

    • Alan says:

Haha indeed – it’s a public holiday as a result here in Oz too! A good HfP weekend so far – Avios MEL-SYD for £14 return (with lounge access thanks to BA Gold), free night at IC Sydney via IHG visa card and the bridge climb this evening will hit my target for 50k QF points on my Commonwealth Bank credit card (transferring lessons learned on HfP to the Aussie credit card environment!)

      • JQ says:

Do you know of any Aussie equivalent to HfP (or even moneysavingexpert for that matter)? Whirlpool seems to be too general and AFF too specific… I have 50k QF points and I don’t know what to do with them. Might have try using them for SYD-NZ

        • Rob says:

AFF is my usual recommendation but, agreed, it is at a Flyertalk level.

  • Danny says:

Another date: 355 days before summer half term 2016 begins for your kids (depends on region) will likely be 7th/8th June. Book outwards journeys on avios.

    • bob says:

You can book Weds 25th May 2016 now, so I guess 26th will pop up @ midnight tonight and 27th on Sunday night.

      Thanks for the warning! 🙂

      • bob says:

        Tonight’s the night 🙂

        • bob says:

Managed to get the perfect take-off time x4 RFS seats, lunchtime on Friday 27th.

For those planning a week’s getaway next year (summer half term), Monday 30th is a bank holiday so it won’t eat into your holiday allowance quite so much.

  • David says:

Off message, does anybody have Raffles email ? I tried to contact Rob via several routes yesterday, but I’m not on much Social Media.. Anyway. Not sure if it is of interest, but I have just been made aware by my Amex RM of a massive Amex Centurion fee and benefit change. I’m guessing Amex Plat will follow next year.

    • RIccati says:

Not really. Those are quite different segments: Centurion and lowly Platinums.

What I observe so far is a vicious circle: as less people subscribe to the type of card, AMEX has to rise fees/APR.

Benefits… they are already not so much across the spectrum from Gold to Plat to Centurion. Definitely less than cost inclusive of an occasional promotion bone.

    • Nick Burch says:

You can find his email address on the contact page – https://headforpoints.com/contact/

    • anon says:

      Changes for better or worse?

  • idrive says:

there is speculation of some Plat changes…

    • RIccati says:

What more damage can they do? Remove PP and raise the fee to £600?

    • RIccati says:

On the upside, if they remove the FX fee…

  • dynamo says:

Just used the Hilton 100% bonus to book a 309euro standard room in Dublin for 30,000pts at the Hilton Dublin. Saved me over £200. No idea what is going on in Dublin that night but even hostels are coming up as circa £100.

  • Rob says:

Hi – does the BAPP sign-up promotion tend to repeat ? Trying to work out the best time to get a card in the wife’s name…
