  Just as an OT there seems to be a Nectar promo offering 50% of points back when transferred to EBay .

    Yes, I saw this. The snag is that instead of a 50 per cent discount it is a 50 per cent rebate.

    Lets say you move 20,000 Amex to Nectar. You convert 20,000 Nectar to £100 of ebay credit and get 10,000 Nectar points back.

    You have paid 10,000 Amex for £100 which is a great deal at 1p per Amex point redeemed. However, you are also stuck with 10,000 Nectar points which are only worth £50. Your net return on those 20,000 Amex points is £150 or 0.75p per point which is not so good (although not terrible either).

    Nectar isn’t worthless – it has a fixed value (with very few exceptions) of 0.5p per point. That’s what you get in Sainsbury’s, for instance. It’s just not very good value, nor is it very exciting, since there is no room for leverage. So it’s not worth going out of one’s way to collect the points.

  I was getting quoted on average £550 with most insurers (Admiral, Direct Line, and also all rest via comparison websites), and so was surprised by how low Tesco’s quote was at £350. The 3000 points (thanks Rob) took about 3 weeks to post.

  Rubbish. You get the usual 0.5p per point that you get from any Nectar redemption so you might as well spend your points in Sainsburys and pay cash as usual for easyJet. I think there may also be a booking fee on easyJet redemptions done this way?

  Off-topic but I find it a significant move allowing to catch those 7 am flights for a weekend get away at Heathrow.

  The Night Tube will be running all night on Fridays and Saturdays and launches in the early hours of Saturday 12 September.

  28th June is the last day for the Amex/Caffe Nero £5 back when you spend £10 promotion.
  If you buy one of their gift cards for £15 and register it you get an extra £3 credit.
  This means that you get £18 credit for £10 and can spend it after the 28th June.
  If you have got lots of cards you could be better off buying £10 cards with £5 statement credit.
  You can top up the card, but only via Paypal which will not trigger the credit.
